The live-action movie Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 1: Diamond Is Unbreakable will hit Japanese theatres on August 4, 2017. The movie has been made possible through the partnership between Toho Co Ltd and Warner Bros. Japan.
It is the first live-action movie to be based on the manga Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure by Hirohiko Araki, which has sold more than 90 million copies of its 117 volumes. The story starts from the historical battles of the Joestar family and Diamond Is Unbreakable is based on Part 4.
The live-action movie finished its on-location filming in Sitges, Spain and is now shooting scenes in Japan.
Director Takashi Miike commented, ‘The cities and streets in Spain were great for this movie. Costumes stood out because of the surroundings and it became better and better as we continued filming in Sitges.’
Miike’s movies have been highly acclaimed even at international festivals like the Cannes Film Festival. He is sure to bring his unique style and experience to the production of the film.
