The third season of Food Wars! (Shokugeki no Soma) started airing recently, and as a Jump series, it will get a collaboration cafe at J-World Tokyo, the theme park that focuses on series of Jump. The cafe will offer food that appears in the anime, so you will be able to taste the Soma family’s hujiao bing and Kuga’s mapo tofu or hainanese chicken rice.
Food Wars! is the story of a boy called Soma Yukihira who wants to become a better cook than his father who runs a restaurant in their town. For this reason, he is attending a prestigious cooking school. The anime is based on a manga which has released 26 volumes so far and has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since 2012.
The collaboration will be the third for J-World Tokyo. So far, the high quality menu that was presented during the collaborations was well accepted by the fans but this time they will try and re-produce the dishes shown in Episode 3 ‘Moon Festival’.
The Soma Family’s hujiao bing for example is a dish made of wheat flour, filled with fried meat and beans. Mapo tofu, on the other hand, is a spicy dish with silky tofu covered in bean paste. Last, the chicken rice dish is, as the name suggests, tender chicken meat saved with tomatoes, cucumbers, and sauces. You can enjoy the chicken by dipping it in one of the three sauces: chilli, ginger, or black soy sauce.
The dishes will be available during different periods. Soma’s and Eizan’s dish will be sold between 21 October – 30 November 2017 while Kuga’s dish will be sold between 21 October – 15 November 2017.
Soma Family’s hujiao bing – 780 yen
Kuga’s mapo tofu (with rice) – 920 yen
Etsuya Eizan’s Hainanese chicken rice – 920 yen
