Hello! It’s Yukki, proud event correspondent for MANGA.TOKYO! I attended the ‘Is the order a radio??~Chimame-tai no Poporon Radio~’ AnimeJapan special version which took place on Saturday 25 March 2017 at AnimeJapan 2017.
Is the order a rabbit?? is a very popular four-panel manga by the artist Koi-sensei. It has been adapted into a TV anime twice and a special episode is already confirmed to screen in theaters!
‘Is the order a radio?? ~Chimame-tai no Poporon Radio~’ is a radio show which began on 2 July 2016 and is broadcast every Saturday from 02:00 – 02:30. The guests were Chimame-tai’s Inori Minase (Chino), Sora Tokui (Maya), and Rie Murakawa (Megu). Those who live outside of Japan may not be aware, but in Japan, there are many anime radio shows being broadcast. They are a way for fans to enjoy an anime which has ended.
The event took place at AnimeJapan’s biggest event space, RED Stage. At the event, Chimame-tai announced a surprise concert!
The guests who attended the event were Inori Minase who plays the cool and collected Chino, the only child of the cafe (Rabbit House) where the main character Cocoa lodges and has extensive knowledge of coffee; Sora Tokui who plays Chino’s classmate Maya, a friendly and energetic girl; and Rie Murakawa who plays Megu, another one of Chino’s classmates who is a calm girl going at her own pace but is also a tad mischievous. Those who know the original work are already familiar with the three voice actresses who play the members of the Chimame-tai.
After ‘First Whispers’ ended, it was finally time for the actresses to get up on the stage. They were dressed in the anime’s costumes. The applause and cheers were so loud that it seemed that AnimeJapan’s biggest space, RED Stage, would break. The three actresses smiled beamingly at the fans who had gathered for the event. Surprisingly, it had been a long time since the three actresses did the radio show together.
During the Chimame Detective Group corner, they answered all kinds of riddles from the listeners. There was a scene where they were asked ‘An eel has been skewered. what has it become?’ and even though the word for eel, unagi, was crossed out, Rie Murakawa answered as such and the other two scolded her.
The actresses were also asked to praise each other. They began to complement their characters’ hairstyles from the new visuals and when they started up with careless quips about each other, they really started to look like the close-knit Chimame-tai members depicted in the anime.
The event had a suprise for the fans: a live concert! They performed Chimame-tai’s Tokimeki Poporon. The three actresses were dressed in Poporon parkers, driving the crowd crazy!
After the concert, there was yet another surprise announcement! Another concert called ‘Chimame-tai One Man Live chime march’ will take place on Saturday 3 June 2017 at EX THEATER ROPPONGI. Details will be posted on Twitter and the official website at a later date.
At the end, we got to hear the actresses’ thoughts. Rie Murakawa commented in a fervent speech that she wants everyone to enjoy the events, solo concerts, radio show, and gochiusa!
Sora Tokui asked the crowd if they would attend her very first solo concert and smiled at the audience’s cheering response.
Inori Minase also mentioned the concert saying she might perform one of the songs from the ‘chimame march’ album.
Details about the solo concert will be posted on Twitter and the official website.
