‘Tekkadan Rise Up Meeting’, the latest event for TV anime Mobile Suit Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans, was held at Maihama Amphi Theater in Chiba on December 3. Comic Natalie has provided us with a report on the event!
Before the opening, Hush Middy (played by Ryota Oosaka) read cautions as a ‘memo from Mikazuki-san.’ The stage turned dark and the audience became very excited as the cast appeared on stage in-character. A message was delivered from Orga Itsuka who was stationed on Mars. When Orga called out to Mikazuki, his voice actor Kengo Kawanishi, appeared from under the stage. ‘What should I do next, Orga?’, said Mikazuki, and thus started of the event.
First, the anime’s music director Masaru Yokoyama performed the main theme for the first season of Mobile Suit Gundam : Iron Blooded Orphans. Then, live recordings of Episode 1: Tetsu to Chi to, Episode 5: Akai Sora no Mukou, Episode 7: Isanatori, Episode 17: Kudelia no Ketsui, and Episode 19: Negai no Juryoku were performed.
Next came a live performance of the anime background music by Yokoyama and then a live recording of Episode 23: Saigo no Uso, with Natsuki Hanae of Biscuit Griffon appearing on the stage as a surprise guest. Natsuki performed the scene in which Biscuit tells Mikazuki to leave Tekkadan, and the audience shed tears watching him act. After the live post recording of Episodes 23 and 25 (Tekkadan) were finished, the live performance of Crescent Moon – Mobile Suit Gundam : Iron-Blooded Orphans 2, the main theme for the second season, was performed. They also performed scenes from Episode 29: Shusse no Hikigane, and Episode 31:Muon no Senso, both from the second season. Then they showed an advanced screening of the first part of Episode 35: Mezameshi Yakusai that was broadcasted on December 4.
Next, the cast gathered on the stage. Hanae, the surprise guest, was called to the stage again and said, ‘Hello everyone, I’m Biscuit, a mother to all of you!’ The audience gave him a warm applause. Also, the video message from Tekkadan Leader Orga Itsuka’s VA, Yoshimasa Hosoya, was played. At the answer check corner of the Iron Blooded Love Quiz, which was held on the official website, the funny answers from the cast were disclosed as well. As one of the answers to questions, the live recording was performed by Takaki Uno’s VA Kouhei Amasaki and Aston Altland’s VA Kentarou Kumagai. Amasaki admitted that he added his own original question no. 26 and answered it himself. The question was ‘What is Takaki thinking now?’ and the answer was ‘to become happy with Fuuka!’ He apologized and admitted that he had added his original question without any permission and Yasuaki Takumi answered with ‘It’s fine! I forgive you!’
Gundam Flauros’ setting image was also revealed at the event and it was announced that the new opening theme will be Fighter by KANA-BOON and the new ending theme Freesia by Uru. They also took a commemorative picture with the audience. At the last part of the event, the cast members were asked to make a speech that could be transcribed within 140 characters since it would be uploaded on the official Twitter. To make it within 140 characters, some made it sound like a rap song and some repeated their familiar phrase. The event was filled with laughter.
Finally, Kawanishi commented, ‘I’m very glad that this many people love Iron-Blooded Orphans. The series will become more exciting towards the end of this year. I would like to ask all of you to watch it.’
Yu Ito is in charge of the character designs of Iron Blooded Orphans. The series features a world 300 hundred years after the massive ‘Calamity war’. The protagonist is a boy named Mikazuki Augus. The second season features the Tekkadan, who gained famed after the Arbrau election, escorting Kudelia Aina Bernstein to Earth. It airs at 5:00 p.m. on Sundays on 28 stations including MBS and TBS.
