Ichigo Takano’s manga Kimi ni Nare will start its serialization in Futabasha’s Monthly Action June Issue, which will be released on 25 April. Kimi ni Nare has collaborated with Kobukuro’s song of the same name for a teaser music video, which was released on 10 April.
The teaser music video includes scenes from the manga, Takano drawing drafts, and Kobukuro member Kentaro Kobuchi writing the lyrics. At the time of the release, Takano revealed, ‘When it’s impossible, it’s impossible. There were various words I wanted someone to say to me. Something that supports you when you’re troubled. A song just for yourself is what it arouses in me. I love it. ‘
A special teaser website of Takano’s Kimi ni Nare opened on 11 April with illustrations from the first chapter and more info.
‘The first time I listened to it, it was so enormously great that I was holding back tears by biting my lips. I had the feeling that the back of my throat was getting really hot. It seemed to tightly harden my feet, which were shaking.
Kobuchi and Kuroda conveyed their thoughts and it felt like they stung me. I like the phrases like ‘Now is not the time’ or ‘Become a real you’. We are being saved by the words that make us realize that there is hope ahead of us because now we’re still growing.
When it’s impossible, it’s impossible. There were various words I wanted someone to say to me. Something that supports you when you’re troubled. A song just for yourself is what it arouses in me. I love it.’
‘We completed the “Kimi ni Nare” music video. Finally the words, we spun inside the song started to move in the manga as the feelings and expressions of each character. When I saw the continuing scenes of myself writing the lyrics onto white paper and Takano drawing on white paper, we seemed to be calling out to one another. So it was only natural enough to think that these two pieces were originally one.
Even though only scenes from the first volume were included, it portrayed the hope and anxiety for the future, conflicts, and delusions. It further accelerates the music’s speed and scale.
Takano’s delicate drawings added a friendly color to the song. I feel that this is the strongest collaboration Kobukuro have done so far. I am looking forward to the series’ continuation!’
‘Ichigo Takano × Kobukuro. I want to sing “Kimi ni Nare”. I can sing even more. It can convey more. I want to keep watching it forever. Thank you, Takano.’
