Haruko Ichikawa’s Houseki no Kuni (Land of the Lustrous) will be turned into an anime series! Together with the announcement comes the first teaser visual.
The series is a fantasy action anime set in the distant future. Humans fight their mysterious enemy called ‘moon people’ who have come down from the moon. The manga is being serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon. The newest volume of the manga, volume 7, will be released on 23 May 2017.
Information on the anime staff has also been released. The director is Takahiko Kyogoku (Love Live!, Pretty Rhythm), the series compositor is Toshiya Ono and the character design is done by Asako Nishida. The anime will be produced by Orange, also known for making the CG-parts in Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance and Macross F: The Movie.
Houseki no Kuni is scheduled to start airing in October 2017.
