Hiro Mashima completed his popular manga Fairy Tail with the release of the 34th issue of Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine which was released today, 26 July 2017. Those who aren’t ready to let Fairy Tail go yet can rejoice as a new (and final) season of Fairy Tail has been officially announced for 2018.
An artwork of Fairy Tail was used for the cover of Shonen Magazine, showing all of the main characters with a big smile on their face. In the center are Natsu and Lucy, the main characters in this fantasy adventure story who belong to a guild of magicians named Fairy Tail. The manga started serialization in the 35th issue of the Weekly Shonen Magazine in 2006 and has been going on for about 11 years. In 2009 and 2014, an anime series was aired on TV and in 2012 and 2017 two anime movies showed in Japanese cinemas. In 2015 a stage adaptation was realized. The 62nd volume of the manga is scheduled to come out on 15 September and the final and 63rd volume will go on sale sometime in November.
In celebration of the completion of the series after 11 years, a colored illustration is printed in the magazine. It reads ‘The door to the guild is anytime open!!!!!!!!’ [sic] and invites readers to come back to Fairy Tail at any time they want.
