The Hiro Mashima 20 Year Anniversary Exhibition will be held from 22 March 2017 – 3 April 2017 at the Matsuyama Ginza store on the 8th-floor event space in Tokyo. Before the opening, a ceremony was held with Hiro Mashima and Kiichiro Sugawara, Kodansha Weekly Shonen Magazine’s editor.
They have known each other and worked together since Mashima’s debut. Mashima seemed nervous about opening the exhibition and told the audience, ‘I normally don’t wear suits, so I forgot to wear a belt today (laugh). There are many older drawings I think are embarrassing. But they are from a time when I drew with all my might and energy, so if someone can enjoy it, I would be happy.’ His editor said, ‘I have seen many exhibitions, but this one is of high quality. I want everyone to see this exhibition as soon as possible and for as long as possible.’
Mashima brought private items like ‘Old names for the first episode of Rave’, ‘Books to read when lost’ and ‘My old drawing utensils’. In the corner that was made to look like his working desk, he commented, ‘This is nearly perfect. It looks like my own room.’
At the Hiro Mashima 20 Year Anniversary Exhibition, there will be mostly information on Rave and Fairy Tail, exhibiting more than 200 items. Aside from illustrations, anime scenes will be shown on screens, as well as sketches and materials related to the setting of his work.
Original goods will also be sold, like an official pamphlet about the exhibition, t-shirts, towels, clear files, accessories designed by Hiro Mashima, framed pictures with Hiro Mashimas sign, and more.
There will also be an audio guide, explaining everything about the exhibition in the voice of Fairy Tail and Rave characters. You can enjoy the exhibition while Rie Kugimiya as Happy, or Tomokazu Seki as Haru and Lucky, explain everything to you.
