Hajime no Ippo by George Morikawa has released a mook (=a mix between a magazine and a book) titled Hajime no Ippo Daikaibou today, 6 September 2017.
It introduces the members of the Kamogawa Gym – Ippo, Takamura, Kimura, Aoki and Itagaki – as well as other characters like Miyata, Sendo, Volg, Mashibata, Date, and Ricardo through different scenes of their bouts. It will also include an interview with Morikawa and interviews with professional boxers Hozumi Hasegawa (holds world titles in three weight classes) and Naoya Inoue, 17th WBO super flyweight champion.
The mook will also include an illustration of Hajime no Ippo‘s Miyata fighting with Ashita no Joe‘s Rikiishi, drawn by none other than Ashita no Joe‘s creator Tatsuya Chiba himself, as well as a contribution from sports manga author Natsuko Heiuchi. Furthermore, it includes a directory with all the boxers, trainers, and promoters that appeared until volume 118 of the manga.
