The anime adaptation of the light novel Isekai Shokudo will air in Summer 2017. The production has revealed the first teaser visual and opened the official website and Twitter account. The gourmet fantasy anime is going to be the second anime adaptation for Hero Bunko after Knight’s & Magic.
The first teaser visual for the anime shows the entrance to ‘Nekoya’ in the middle of a beautiful and mysterious forest. The story plays in a 50-year-old corner-shop restaurant called Youshoku no Nekoya, close to the office district. The shop has an ordinary plate with a cat on its door, but once a week, during the ‘Special Sale’ on Saturdays, the door will connect to another world. The customers that come through that door are not your normal people. They all are from different places, cultures, and races. In this strange restaurant, they all can taste the same food. There is no discrimination. Just awesome cooking. The story is about the heartwarming encounters between the people who visit the restaurant.
Isekai Shokudo gained huge popularity on the website Shousetsuka Ni Narou (Let’s Become a Novelist) and is being published by Hero Bunko since February 2015. 3 volumes have been released so far. It is written by Junpei Inuzuka, with illustrations by Katsumi Enami.
Producing the anime will be Silver Link, known for several light novel anime adaptations like Strike the Blood and Baka and Test. The director will be Masamoto Jinbo, who made his debut with Fake/kaleid liner Prisma Illya. He will also be in charge of the series composition.
The characters are probably coming next, so make sure you stay put here in MANGA.TOKYO for all the latest anime and otaku news.
