Scarlett Johansson and Ghost in the Shell fans who live in Japan can mark their calendars for November 13.
According to the press release, Scarlett Johansson, the American actress who is cast as the protagonist (The Major) of the anime adaptation will be joined on the stage of the special event by director Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) and Beat Takeshi who plays Daisuke Aramaki. The event will be a treat for the 200 people who will be chosen by lottery to attend the event, as the production will show new footage. This is not the first time that the actress visits Japan for the promotion of a movie. It was 14 years ago when she came to the island-country for Sofia Coppola’s Lost in Translation, the movie she co-stared with Bill Murray about a faded movie star and a neglected young woman who crossed their paths in Tokyo.
The film will be distributed in the US by Paramount Pictures on March 31, 2017. There is still no official release date for Japan.
