We have the new trailer of the Fullmetal Alchemist (Hagane no Renkinjutsushi) movie adaptation that is based on Hiromu Arakawa’s manga!
The trailer shows Edward and Alphonse Elric as children. The brothers want to see their deceased mother again and try their hand at the forbidden human transmutation. We then see Ed, sporting his automail arm and training with weapons, as well as a glimpse of Al fighting stone beasts.
Director Fumihiko Sori said, ‘The main theme of the movie is the burden of two brothers who have to carry the effects of breaking the taboo of trying to transmute life.’ About the technology in the film, he said, ‘We used technology that hadn’t reached Japan until now, trying to “fly higher and try to reach it” and I think we used good techniques. This was why I wanted to challenge this work. I like working with new things. But to be honest, the most important thing in this movie is not the technology, it is the story.’
Fullmetal Alchemist was serialized in Square Enix’ Monthly Shonen Gangan between 2001-2010. It is the story of Edward, an Alchemist, who lost his beloved mother at a young age, and the adventures and growth he faces together with his brother Alphonse. The movie will be released in Japanese cinemas on 1 December 2017.
