Obsolete is an upcoming YouTube Originals anime written and based on an idea by Gen Urobochi. It has been revealed that the anime will start streaming on YouTube on 3 December 2019. The main visual, staff members, cast, trailer, and character designs have also been revealed.
Obsolete covers a ‘what-if’ scenario taking place from now until the the near future, which sees 2.5m tall, consciousness-controlled general-purpose ‘Exoframe’ robots. The anime is produced by Buemon and is directed by Yuki Yamada and Seiichi Shirato. Makoto Ishiwata heads the mechanic designs and the characters have been designed by Akihiko Yoshida and Yuya Nagai.
The cast members include Masahiko Tanaka as American marine corp general Bowman and Toshiyuki Morikawa as Miyajima. Loewner will be voiced by Jin Yamanoi and Fernando will be voiced by Wataru Takagi. Lastly, Zahir of the mysterious Outcast Brigade will be voiced by Ryuzaburo Otomo.
Lastly, the opening and ending themes have also been announced. The opening will be produced by Skrillex and Nik Roos and is titled ‘obsolete’, the ending will be ‘ORB-SOLUTION’ by Technoboys Pulcraft Green-Fund. The opening theme can also be heard in the new trailer, so check it out!
The series will be available as a Youtube Original on the Bandai Namco Arts Channel. From episode 2 onwards there will be one new episode each Tuesday.
