A new original anime titled Hoshiai no Sora by director Kazuki Akane, who is known for working on many famous anime such as Code Geass: Akito the Exiled and The Vision of Escaflowne, will come out in 2019, as announced during an event on 18 August 2018. For now, the series has released an official website and a first trailer, in which we can see the progress of the animation.
The series focuses on the soft tennis club of a middle school, which is close to disbandment. We follow the boys as they appreciate the experiences they make while playing tennis and grow through all the happenings in the series.
Hoshiai no Sora also announced part of the cast and staff members. The original character design was provided by ITSUKA, who currently works on the Twitter manga Kimi Made Ato Mou Sukoshi de and the story will be provided by Kazuki Akane, who also is directing this series. Cast as the two main characters Maki Katsuragi and Toma Shinjo are Hanae Natsuki and Tasuku Katanaka, respectively.
The series is scheduled to start airing on TBS in 2019. The director said, ‘I tried to make a new world and challenge a new kind of drama and art.’
