Ensemble Stars! will, at last, start airing its anime adaptation on 7 July 2019. A new trailer has been released that features a 90-second color explosion, cute boys, and the opening theme of the series, titled ‘Stars’ Ensemble!’.
The series is based on a smartphone game of the same name which began service in April 2015. The player takes the role of a producer whose role is to help train male idols to become stars at Yumenosaki Academy. The anime will focus on fledgling group Trickstar, which is made up of members Hokuto Hidaka, Subaru Akehoshi, Makoto Yuki, and Mao Isara. In addition to Trickstar, there are many other groups who also dream of reaching the top. The students must take part in school-run concerts called DreFes (Dream Festivals) at Yumenosaki where they have to show off their charms to the other students. However, the DreFes at Yumenosaki Academy are practically rigged, and Trickstar challenge the student council to reform the event and restore the school to its former glory.
The first volume of the anime DVD and Blu-ray will come out on 26 September 2019. The jacket illustration features the four members of Trickstar. The DVD will cost 7,300 yen and the Blu-ray 7,800 yen (excluding tax).
