Mai Kuraki and Detective Conan are collaborating for the 21st time!
The 21st movie of Detective Conan, titled ‘Crimson Love Letter’, will hit Japanese cinemas on 15 April 2017. It has been announced that Mai Kuraki will sing the theme song of the movie. Coincidentally, this will also be the 21st time that Kuraki and Conan are collaborating!
The new song will be called Togetsukyou ~Kimi Omofu~ (Totetsukyou Bridge ~Thinking of You~) and was written by Kuraki especially for the movie. The refrain starts with the phrase ‘Kara kurenai ni somaru togetsukyou~’ (The Togetsukyou Bridge that becomes flooded with crimson). The song features an arrangement using Japanese instruments. The sound of it perfectly reflects the dark image that is set for the movie.
Since this song is the 21st time Mai Kuraki and Detective Conan are working together, a special ‘Conan x Mai Kuraki’ logo has been created for it. She will also enter the Guinness Book of World Records as ‘the person who has sung the most songs for the same anime.’
‘I thank the Detective Conan movie from the bottom of my heart. It made this 21st collaboration possible,’ said Kuraki about her new song. About the creation of the song, she said, ‘When I first read the scenario for the movie, I got this vision of the shades of deep red and thought that I would like to use Japanese instruments. If I managed to color the beautiful dramatic story of a high school girl and her new love pattern with my song, I would be very happy.’
The trailer using the theme song was released today! It’s a charming trailer full of exciting action scenes and romantic moments. Fans can expect a lot from this movie!
