Once again, it seems there was chaos at the 2017 graduation ceremony of the prestigious Kyoto University. Every year, people wearing cosplay attend the ceremony and the ideas and quality of the costumes draw attention.
On 24 March 2017, the Heisei 28 Graduation Ceremony took place at the Miyako Messe in Kyoto, and the cosplayers were a hot topic on Twitter!
Cosplays of ‘Shin Godzilla’, ‘NigeHaji’ (Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku in Tatsu), and ‘Pokemon’.
In terms of how difficult it is to enter, Kyoto U is considered to be Tokyo University’s twin in the west of Japan. The graduation ceremony has gained the alias ‘#1 Hardest to Attend Cosplay Event in Japan’ on the internet because of the awful unique cosplays that are seen every year.
And now, we bring you Kyoto University’s 2017 Graduation Ceremony which, of course, descended into chaos.
This is a picture of the graduation ceremony uploaded to the university’s official Facebook page. At the very front of the line, a silhouette extremely similar to the main character of a certain manga ……！ I wonder why he sat in the front row.
Godzilla’s second form, ‘Kamata-kun’ which appears in the big hit movie Shin Godzilla, was made from balloons. Posing next to him is Pop Team Epic’s Popuko!
Here we have five Gen Hoshinos and one Yui Aragaki from the TV series ‘NigeHaji’ (Running is shameful but Useful) doing the ‘Koi Dance’ pose together.
‘Cosplay is shameful but is useful’ shortened to ‘CosuHaji’.
From the drama whose last episode aired on 22 March, Tara-chan and Reba-chan。The series was based on the original manga by Akiko Higashimura. It’s not really cosplay but these kinds of panels are seen often.
Japan-US-ROK Summit Meeting was taking place…… It’s possible that the future leader of Japan could be chosen from among these people.
The Beer Bottle Corps. I don’t know why they chose this but it looks really fun.
A cosplay of the mascot for Benesse’s communication education course, ‘Shinken Seminar Elementary Course’, Korasho. He worked hard from when he was ‘Challenge 1st Grade’ student and he finally became a 16th-grade student. [cries]
I wanted to jump out from a Student I.D. Card! How dignified.
The shaking icons just before you delete an app on an iPhone. The idea is amazing.
From the Pokemon series, Exeggutor and Exeggutor (Sun and Moon). It seems like the cosplayers are repeating a year and have written ‘Exeggutor Credits Dance’ on the Exeggutors’ trunk section. At least they show some kind of enthusiasm.
A graduate school student with ‘Escape from Katsura……I couldn’t……’ Maybe a student who attends the Katsura Campus? Try hard again next year!
Rather than cosplay, it’s an object but it reads ‘Stop! Graduation!’ and a recreation of a square from the board game The Game of Life. At Kyoto U, it is the event: ‘You get awarded with a degree at graduation’. In the actual Game of Life, if you land on this space, you may be the strongest, in a way.
In addition, there were also cosplays of the villain character from Kemono Friends, Cerulean, Pokemon’s Bellsprout, and Jesus Christ.
Also you could see Hikonyan, Doraemon, Thomas the tank engine, and a tank, among other chaotic cosplays!
This graduation is certainly a different dimension……. I’m already looking forward to next year’s graduation!
