The final titles and the release date for the Code Geass movie trilogy, for which CLAMP is in charge of the character design, have been decided. We have the first info and a teaser visual for the first movie.
The trilogy will be adding new parts to the 50 episodes of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion and Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 and all the dialog will be re-recorded. The first movie will be called Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion I Koudou and comes into Japanese cinemas on 21 October 2017. The second part, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion II Handou, will follow sometime in February 2018, and the final part, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion III Oudou, will follow in May 2018. There are no English titles as of yet.
Flyers with the teaser visual and all the new information went on display in Japanese cinemas on 29 July 2017. The ticket pre-order started on the same date.
To celebrate the new movie, there will be two new side stories serialized. The first is called Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Side Story Lancelot & Guren, and will start this fall. The main characters of the story are Kallen Stadtfeld and Suzaku Kururugi and it will be a story that hasn’t been shown in the anime yet. Also coming this fall is a story of six new heroes, whose stories will be told in a manga omnibus called Code Geass: Dansho Mosaic no Kakera.
Anime Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion aired in 2006 and focuses on Lelouch, a prince of the Holy Britannian Empire, who obtains a mysterious power called Geass, which makes it possible for him to make anybody follow his orders. With Geass, he starts a rebellion against his former homeland. The sequel R2 aired in 2008.
