Chika Umino has designed a logo commemorating the 15-year-anniversary of YUKI’s solo debut, which is coming up on February 6, 2017.
Umino and YUKI are fans of each other. YUKI’s Dramatic and Fugainaiya were used as the opening themes to the anime adaptation of Umino’s previous work, Honey and Clover. YUKI’s new song Sayonara Bystander (Goodbye Bystander) will be used as the new opening theme for the currently-airing FALL 2016 anime 3-gatsu no Lion. As you can see, the works by Umino and YUKI have collaborated on many occasions.
Umino said, ‘Cuteness, strength, and vividness are condensed in YUKI’s world. Her songs are as if they are living picture books showing us a different story every time we turn the page. These are the aspects I tried to express in the logo.”’ She also added, ‘Happy 15th Anniversary, YUKI! I have always loved you, and will love you forever.’ The original copy of the logo will be displayed at the traveling exhibition ‘The World of Chika Umino ~Honey and Lion~’ starting from December 23, 2016 to January 3, 2017 at Hakata Hankyu Department Store.
Comments by Chika Umino
I have always wondered why every time I go to YUKI’s concert and see her come up on the stage, I can’t help crying.
It might be similar to the feeling of happiness to “meet again” a favorite character from a book or a story.
Cuteness, strength, and vividness are condensed in YUKI’s world. Her songs are as if they are living picture books showing us a different story every time we turn the page.
These are the aspects I tried to express in the logo.
While drawing this logo, the feeling of ‘This is a huge responsibility’ clashed with the feeling of ‘I’m so happy!’.
Happy 15th anniversary, YUKI!
I have always loved you, and will love you forever.
