Kuroko no Basket Last Game, which came out on 18 March 2017, celebrated its release with a stage event at Shinjuku Piccadilly.
The movie is based on the popular manga Kuroko no Basket (Kuroko’s Basketball), which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2009 to 2014 and sold over 30 million copies. There are three anime adaptations with the movie project starting in 2016. After three compilation movies, this will be the first to include new content.
Coming together for this stage greeting were the 9 members of the main cast: Kensho Ono, Yuki Ono, Hiroshi Kamiya, Junichi Suwabe, Daisuke Ono, Ryohei Kimura, Kenichi Suzumura, Hikaru Midorikawa, and Tetsu Inada, joined by Director Shunsuke Tada.
Kensho Ono, who voices the main character Testuya Kuroko, said, ‘It has been 6 years since I first saw Kuroko and I am grateful that I could stay with him until the end in the form of these movies. It feels like a reward. I am very happy that I got to meet Kuroko no Basket and I always think that, but this time that thought is even stronger. Kuroko no Basket is a very special series for me and I will appreciate it even more from now on. If it took a special place in your heart as well, I would be happy. It would be great if you could watch this movie many times and support it. I as well want to just watch it again right now. (laugh) After this I will spread the Kuroko love in other cinemas as well, so you should go and spread the Kuroko love as well!’
Yuki Ono, who voices Taiga Kagami, said, ‘That I can stand here on this stage to meet you all is really great. It has been six years on this adventure with Kuroko no Basket. And in that time, there were many events and radio shows that we all did together and that made it possible to nurture the Kuroko love. I think I am really lucky to have come so far with Kagami and the film. Normally, stage events are rather formal, but with this cast it can only be a fun event. [laugh] Looking at all of you who came here today makes me see again how awesome this series is!’
All of the cast members expressed their feelings toward Kuroko no Basket. They were as happy as the fans.
