Bungo Stray Dogs held the event ‘Bungo Stray Dogs Mayoi Inu-tachi no Utage Sono Ni’ on February 19. At the event, they announced the start of two big projects: a movie and a stage play!
Bungo Stray Dogs is an action battle manga written by Kafka Asagiri and Harukawa 35 that is being serialized in Kadokawa’s Young Ace. Its story is based in the fictional city of ‘Yokohama’ and features abnormal power battles among characters who were named after famous writers such as Atsushi Nakajima, Osamu Dazai, and Ryunosuke Akutagawa. It has a circulation of 4.1 million, and Volume 11 was released in October, 2016.
Takuya Igarashi, who participated in the Oja Majo Doremi series as well as in Ouran High School Host Club and Soul Eater, directed the series and Enokido Yoji handled the series composition and screenplay for the anime adaptation. The TV anime consisted of 24 episodes over 2 seasons and reached up to the ‘Guild Arc’ of the manga. The animation was produced by bones, who worked on Fullmetal Alchemist, No.6, and Show by Rock!!
At the Mayoi Inu-tachi no Utage event, which was held for the second time since September, 2016, Yuto Uemura who plays main character Atsushi Nakajima, as well as Mamoru Miyano (Osamu Dazai), Yoshimasa Hosoya (Doppo Kunikida), Hiroshi Kamiya (Ranpo Edogawa), Toshiyuki Toyonaga (Junichiro Tanizaki), Kensho Ono (Ryunosuke Akutagawa), Kisho Taniyama (Chuya Nakahara) and Kengo Kawanishi (Jon S) appeared on stage and the announcement excited the fans.
