Fuji TV announced the launch of a new anime movie label which would focus on movies of the BL (Boy’s Love) genre. Their first title will an anime adaptation of Kou Yoneda’s popular manga series Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai (Twittering Birds Never Fly). The movie will be titled Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai: The clouds gather and will be released sometime this winter.
The manga is currently running in ihr HertZ magazine, and the paperback volumes have so far sold more than 1.4 million copies. Taking the director’s seat for the first time will be Kaori Makita, who also worked as an episode director for Yuri on Ice and Banana Fish. Handling the script will be Koji Seto (Mob Psycho 100, Banana Fish) and the music will be handled by piano jazz trio H Zettrio. The animation will be handled by animation studio Grizzly.
The story follows Yashiro, the young leader of a yakuza group who enjoys sexual masochism. He meets his new bodyguard named Doumeki, and the two slowly find themselves pulled towards each other in a story that shows how the faults of the pair complement each other.
