Japan has many cool holidays and one of them is Umi no Hi which translates as ‘Day of the Sea’ and is most commonly known as Marine Day! It is celebrated on the third Monday of July. As Japan is an island nation, the purpose of the holiday is to give thanks to the sea’s bounty and to consider the importance of the ocean to the country.
Today, 16 July, is Marine Day in Japan, and to celebrate it, Summer 2018 anime Asobi Asobase released a special visual that shows the three protagonists – Hanako, Olivia, and Kasumi – wearing their swimsuits! The caption reads, ‘shochū omimai mōshiagemasu’ which means, ‘Please accept our best greetings for the hot season!

The series tells the story of three girls – Hanako (VA: Hina Kino), Olivia (VA: Rika Nagase) and Kasumi (VA: Konomi Kohara) – who are in middle school and form a club where they play Japanese playground games.
