Ascendance of a Bookworm (Honzuki no Gekokujou) has released a new visual and some character illustrations. The visual includes more characters whose designs and cast you can find below.
The series is based on a light novel by Miya Kazuki which was ranked first place in the Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! (This light novel is great!) ranking two years in a row. The story follows a bookworm who dies right after getting their dream job as a librarian. When she opens her eyes again, she realizes she has been reborn into another world as Maine. The truly shocking thing is that in this world there are no books.
‘Thank you for letting me play a wonderful character in a wonderful story. I am going to play him politely and with care. Benno is a really wonderful person. I love him.’
‘I am Satoshi Hino and will voice Otto in Ascendance of a Bookworm. He is a young man who lives with his beloved wife and works in the city hall. He teaches Maine how to read at the beginning of the series. This story is set in a world that was built so wonderful and told with characters that were created with such detail, which makes it a heart-warming another world fantasy story. Please look forward to the anime!’
‘I will play Marc, who is Benno’s right-hand man! Marc usually works very efficiently but behind that smile he also hides a bit of darkness. We will work hard to support Benno and Maine and Lutz. Please watch over us!’
‘I am Aya Uchida and will voice Frieda! This work features many characters with unique personalities, but this little lady is also one who can’t be predicted easily! I will work hard to make her cute, clever and strong. Please watch over me!’
On the day Urano Motosu’s biggest wish of landing a job in a library comes true, she dies. Her last thought is that she regrets not having read more books… When she wakes up again, she finds herself in another world as a young girl named Maine. The story is set in a city called Ehrenfest that reminds her of medieval times but is in fact in another world where nobles with magical powers control everything. In the strict hierarchic system of this world Maine works hard to get her hands on books.
