The original TV anime Love Kome – WE LOVE RICE –, which anthropomorphizes popular rice brands, will air on April 2017. The title is a pun on the word ‘Love Come(dy)’ and ‘kome’, which means ‘rice’ in Japanese.
This work depicts the wholesome comedy of five new students entering Kokudate Inaho Gakuen, a school on the verge of closing. They dedicate themselves to earning the title of ‘HarveStar’ by performing well at the harvest show.
The HarveStar unit ‘Yeast King’ has seen a surge in popularity due to policies reducing acreage, an increase in Western food, and the fact that bread has been replacing rice lately. The five new students aim to boost the popularity of rice by forming the group Love Rice. They are aiming to be the true HarveStar.
The members of Love Rice consist of Mark Ishii as Hikari Hino and Chiharu Sawashiro as Nishiki Sama, who both appeared at the announcement event last year, in addition to Misae Komori as Komachi Akita, Nina Tamaki as Maru Niko, and Sousuke Souma as Bore Hitome.
The cast members of the rival unit, Yeast King, have also been announced. Junya Enoki will play ANN, Yuto Suzuki will play SHOCK, and Genki Taiga will play CARRY. It will be exciting to see just what the members of the rival team will be bringing to the table.
Tomokazu Sugita, Mafia Kajita, Natsuko Hara, and Shuta Morishima are also going to be part of the cast. The anime’s staff will include Kemono’s Friends’ Yoshitada Fukuhara as the General Producer, original creator Yuki Takahashi for the series composition, and Takashi Horiuchi as the director. The animation and character designs are headed by Tomoyo Sawada, and the animation production will be handled by Encourage Films, who are known for Etotama and Zetsumetu Kigu Shoujo Amazing Twins.
