From October 27 to 31, animeanime.jp conducted a survey among their readers and asked them which series they want to see having a sequel. They divided over 30 titles into two categories, anime series based on an original work and original anime.
13938 readers took the survey, 200 more that those who participated last year. The male to female ration was 2:8 and half of them are in their twenties.
Below are the results for the male readers voting on anime series based on original works.

Male fans seem to prefer anime series based on light novels. The first place went to Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World, a very popular series that broadcasted in January, 2016. The story is about Subaru Natsuki who was suddenly summoned to another world to save the people there from dying. The series gathered 20% of all responses.
Second place went to A Certain Magical Index. There are still no news of a sequel on the works even after the broadcast of the spin-off series A Certain Scientific Railgun. Its volumes are constantly released every three months.
Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya came third. 2016 marked the anime’s 10th anniversary and there were many special screening events and the release of a complete album.
Six out of ten titles are based on light novels, and Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World and Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun were the only works that received many responses from both men and women readers.
