Animator Tetsuya Nishio, who is known for designing characters for NARUTO, The Sky Crawlers, and others, will hold a project exhibition titled ‘Nishio Tetsuya Konnani Ippai Egakimashita Ten.’ The event will be held at Sasayuri Café in Nishi Ogikubo, Tokyo from February 2, 2017 to February 27, 2017.
Sasayuri Café is a familiar place for anime fans as exhibitions for Yoh Yoshinari and In This Corner of the World (Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni) have also been held there in the past.
The exhibition will have Nishio’s original production materials from Production I.G., his settings, illustrations, and manga. His various original production materials and illustrations will also be displayed, including not only materials from popular anime titles like Innocence and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG (Koukaku Kidoutai S.A.C. 2nd GIG), but also from Otogisoushi on which he worked on the opening, and JIN-ROH which was released in 2000. In addition, the exhibition will show content from his art books: ‘Weekly Hito Ookami’, ‘Nishio Tetsuya no Ashita ni wa Agarimasu’, and others.
Sasayuri Café will also sell various featured goods. Items on sale will include his art book titled ‘The Art Of Tetsuya Nishio: Full Spectrum Art Book (Nishio Tetsuya Gashuu)’ which was released in Fall 2016, and his books regarding anime styles. Furthermore, it will even be possible to buy stuff from the exhibition as well.
Sasayuri Café will be open from 11:30 to 22:00. Instead of an entrance fee, it will be required to order one or more things from the menu. Please note, there is a chance that the display style will be changed to ‘display only’ or ‘standing only’ on days when it’s expected to be crowded. As such, please follow the Sasayuri Café Twitter (@sasayuricafe) to check the conditions before you visit.
