AnimeJapan 2016 was held at Tokyo Big Sight on Saturday March 26th and Sunday 27th. They hosted a special talk show on the Blue Stage on March 26th for the new anime “ネトゲの嫁は女の子じゃないと思った?/And you thought there is never a girl online?”, airing from April 7th.
Luce Twinkle Wink☆ opened the stage show singing “1st Love Story”, the opening song of the anime. Then the VAs appeared on stage, Toshiyuki Toyonaga for Hideki Nishimura/Lucian, Rina Hidaka for Ako Tamaki/Ako, Inori Minase for Akane Segawa/Shwein, M.A.O for Kyou Goshouin/Apricot, Hitomi Oowada for Nanako Akiyama, Yoshino Nanjou for Yui Saitou. They also showed the “Chat Room” on the stage screen as is customary with every “Netoge no Yome (Girl online)” anime event, with the chat comments by the character designer Akane Yano and others as usual, corresponding to the talk show.
As the cast members were introducing themselves, Oowada was surprised by a celebration call of happy birthday from the audience. Oowada, whose birthday was March 23rd, was applauded with hand clapping by both the cast on stage and fans around the stage.
The talk show this time was named “Seminar prior to Airing”, and Toyonaga played the role of the facilitator and lecturer of the show and the rest female cast members played the attendees. The first “lecture” was to present catch phrases for each character of their own to introduce their roles. Hidaka who voices Ako introduced her as Badass(ヤバイ奴), and Mizuse who voices Segawa as Pig dude(豚野郎), on the fringe. M.A.O., Oowada, and Nanjou came up with sentences for their catch lines. Each catch line implied not only the nature of the characters but also the position and their own ingenious attempts on the role to convince us with various interesting ideas. Toyonaga’s line was “Why am I so popular?!”, but the female cast members fed the joke as “Not so popular” one after another to rip him off.
Then the next lecture came as “First episode highlights”. As you can imagine, each cast explained the episode highlight with one phrase. The flip boards said boobs(おっぱい), tsun! (ツン！！) (of tsundere)”, “Apricot”… and so on. Hidaka, who picked boobs(おっぱい) as the first episode highlight, emphasized how it explains the episode perfectly, and Yano in the Chat Room responded as “That’s the very part I had put my efforts into! Glad to hear it!” On the other hand, Nanjou, who is known for her long time career of playing online games, put stress on how important the avatar names on the games are and persuaded the audience with a laughter to give a well-thought out names to our own avatars in games.
Finally, they all talked about their eagerness of the anime and closed the stage show with a huge success.
