Kenji Kamiyama’s newest movie Ancien and the Magic Tablet (Hirune Hime: Shiranai Watashi no Monogatari) will finally come out on DVD and Blu-ray on 13 September 2017.
A brand new illustration was drawn for the occasion that shows Kokone sleeping on Hearts while on the right-hand side of the illustration is Kokone’s mother Ikumi, who Kokone did not see in the movie, and even her father Momotaro is there. The illustration will be used as a present in the Blu-ray edition. It will be printed as an A3 poster. There are plenty of other presents depending on where you order the DVD from, such as postcards and reproduction of storyboards.
Fans in China had the chance to watch the movie in June, and it was also released across France on 12 July! This follows on from the screening in June during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in Annecy, France. Director Kamiyama was there as well and got to interact with the fans, taking pictures and giving autographs. As the Hirune-boom continues, we can only hope there will be more screenings overseas! So far, there are a planned 45 countries and regions where the movie will be shown, so keep an ear out for more details!
