The director of Lupin IIIrd: Chikemuri no Ishikawa Goemon has created his first ever ink painting, a wall scroll titled ‘Goemon Ishikawa’! Between February 22-27, 2017 the Shibuya branch of department store Isetan will hold the special project ‘Isetan X Lupin 3rd #Sneak into Isetan’s hideout’ where they will be taking orders for the item.
The new Lupin movie will return to the origin of Lupin the 3rd and show him and his friends when they were younger, just like in the second season of the show. The creators pursued to bring back the hard and dangerous feeling and the biting jokes of the early Lupin, so they brought back Goemon Ishikawa and they let him meet a young Lupin.
Director Koike Takeshi has painted a calm and seemingly stealth Goemon Ishikawa. The exquisite piece is a brocade on satin damask, and brings out the nobility in Goemon. The price including tax is JPY 108,000.
Koike Takeshi said: ‘Like the movie suggests, I wanted to challenge myself and create an ink painting that has the atmosphere of climbing to a new height for the first time. I am glad I could experience drawing on something that is so different than cel.’
The wall scroll will be signed by Takeshi Koike. ‘ISETAN X Lupin the 3rd #Sneak into Isetan’s hideout’ promises to have some eye-catching products that look back on the fashion and art of the original Lupin the 3rd and celebrate it’s 50th anniversary.
