Continuously from the last episode, five stories move on simultaneously; Shizuo and Izaya’s confrontation, Kadota and his van team, the Saika worshippes huddling around Russian Sushi, Mikado and Masaomi meet-up in the core of Ikebukuro, and finally, Shinra, in chase of his love Celty.
Let’s dive into the highlights of the 34th episode.
Synopsis: Episode 34
I didn’t come here to run away, I’m here for monster elimination – Izaya talks to himself while dodging Shizuo’s relentless attack.
Anri finally confessed about Saika to Kadota and his men.
Karisawa learns that those Saika worshippers are claiming Mikado and Kasane’s lives.
While Chikage successfully contains Blue Squar, Mikado and Masaomi finally meet each other, once again.
And Shinra… what is happening to Shinra?
Everybody is facing something, and fighting.
Highlight 1: Shizuo vs Izaya
The duel between Shizuo and Izaya continues. Shizuo exercises his inherent super power to brandish the steel beam over his head and charges at Izaya, who, gets knocked off to the ground. He nearly avoids death, and manages to run away from Shizuo’s relentless attack.
Shizuo is determined to finish Izaya one and for all. His resolve creates menacing flare around him. It is one way to look at this picture and say Shizuo is kind of playing the hero role. I personally like Izaya. I wish they can find a middle ground somewhere rather than murdering each other.
Highlight 2: Kadota and his van team
Kadota and Anri drives a van to rescue Karisawa, heading to the core of all the happenings: TOKYO HAND shop. As the van moves closer to the central area of Ikebukuro, they spot more and more Saika Worshippers. In the van, Anri confesses to Kadota and the others that she holds a Saika in her body. That’s right. She finally told others that she is unhuman.
Kadota and the others listen to her confession and welcome her with warm gestures. Anri has been suffering for a long time with low self-esteem especially about her existence. Once having found someone who accepts her for who she is, Anri must have felt extremely happy. That is a moment of solace to find, in midst of other crazy murderous events going on.
Highlight 3: Saika Worshippers Huddling Around Russian Sushi
While Kadota is looking for her, Karisawa disguises herself as one of the Saika Worshippers that are gathering around Russian Sushi. She wears red contact lenses and walks like a zombie. She stealthly moves around the mobs, and collects crucial information; Nasushima is targeting to murder Mikado and Kasane.
Highlight 4: Mikado and Masaomi
In order to find out where Mikado is hiding, Chikage left Masaomi and shows up in front of the Blue Square team members. He immediately confronts Aoba.
On the other hand, Masaomi keeps waiting on the roof top of a building. Someone pays him a visit. It turned out that the unexpected visitor is none other than Mikado.
Reunion, at last! No, not quite. Mikado appears and acts like a totally different person. Masaomi can’t help showing his surprise.
Mikado leaves premises “I know it’s late in the game but…” and he goes on and reveals that he is the founder of Dollars, against the public belief. Mikado asks Masomi to stay and watch Dollar’s meeting that is about to take place in front of him.
Wait. What is going to happen in that Dollars meeting…? This is not good, this is a nasty turn of events.
Highlight 5: Shinra Keeps Chasing Celty
Like everyone else, Shinra, too, is fighting against something. Shinra watches a beautiful sky and notices that the color of the darkened sky is wearing the same color as Celty. His six sense tells him that Celty regains her head, and that Celty is still in Ikebukuro. Shinra sets out to the town of Ikebukuro yet again, to look for her.
He leaves a memo behind him; Even if Celty ends up killing me, I have business with her to settle.
Well, how was it?
All the key characters gather at the heart of Ikebukuro. Doesn’t it look like the Dollars’ meeting is going to be the stag for the ultimate climax?
Keep your eyes out for the next update!
