AOKANA -Four Rhythm Across the Blue- – #09
Both Asuka and Misaki have lost confidence in their FC playing abilities. In this round we see how they bounce back and move forward! Key point of the show is the different answers they land on. Now, let me share with you highlights of the ninth episode.
Synopsis: Episode 9
” The Answer is Up in the Sky!”
After having lost the practice game against Saki, Asuka comes down with a cold and skips school. At home, she hums a song to cheer herself up. It’s her favorite and most memorable song that gave her courage and strength when she was a little girl.
Next day at school Asuka acts cheerful, as if nothing happened, but, she is unable quite as well as she used to.
Misaki starts worrying about Asuka’s worsened performance, and listens to her story.
Highlight 1: Asuka and Misaki Share What They Really Think
Both Misaki and Asuka had negative experiences respectively. To shake it off, they come face to face and share what they have in minds.
First, Asuka starts her confession. After Asuka finds herself having difficulties in flying during the club training, Misaki prompts Asuka to share with her guts feelings.
Asuka started dreaming about flying in the air when she was a little kid. Over time, she became to believe that if she had courage to fly around the sky freely someday, she can change her weak and inferior self.
After enrolling to the Kunahama High School FC club, met Masaya, Misaki and other teammates, and she starts believing in herself that she can actually fly better than she thought she would. Ultimately, the loss against Saki made her realize that she hasn’t changed since the childhood – she is still weak and inferior. Because until now she was only flying with borrwoed wings. While she is frustrated with her powerless self-portrait, she is unable to fly.
Next, Misaki makes her confession. Misaki decides to be honest and tells Asuka her story, who agrees to stay overnight at Misaki’s place.
When Misaki was little, she received Grav-Shoes as a gift, which caused her to get infatuated with FC. After a while her passion wore off, and she stopped playing. Through the encounter with Asuka, Misaki picked up FC again, just because she felt it would be fun.
In the summer tournament, Misaki was shocked to witness the fact that Shindo is getting serious because of Asuka.
Additionally, she couldn’t believe that Shindo lost the game against Saki.Misaki was scared since the FC is the first thing ever she got passionate about. She can’t enjoy playing FC like others do. That’s why she decided to run away from FC.
The two main heroines exchanged their gut feelings. They must felt really good afterwards.
Highlight 2: Asuka vs Misaki
Next day, Asuka challenges Misaki to play a match.
“The answer is up in the sky!”
It is a phrase from Asuka’s favorite song lyrics that gave her strength when she was a kid. Ever since she was little, she always wanted to change her inferior self, and she believed that the key is flying in the sky. She met Misaki who brought her on to the sky. It’s Misaki who has a good influence on Asuka, and that’s why Asuka needed to play against Misaki.
The match begins.
The two girls go all out.
It was a very good match.
Asuka took the first buoy. While Asuka is destructed, Misaki rushes to the second line to launch a full attack on Asuka. Misaki brings the game to a dog fight and points consecutively.
Two of them strike an Air Kick Turn respectively and ascend. Asuka moves on to Delta Force to corner Misaki, however, Misaki charges at Asuka and gets another point. The game is set at that moment, in the end, Misaki wins the match.
What did the two girls gain from this match…?
Misaki finds that the reason why she run away from FC is because she was scared to make commitment to the very first thing that she feels passionate about. She is sure that she is not going to turn her back on FC ever again, no matter how much she is scared.
On the other hand, Asuka decides to look up and fly no matter what. She finds her answer in the sky. I interpret that she still wants to change herself.
More than the result of the game itself, the heroins’ sincere attitude and engagement in the fair play was impressive.
How did you feel about the show?
Our heroines overcome the difficulties on their own. I was moved watching their game. What kind of story awaits us next time?
