Will he be able to keep on top his reigning championship?
Let’s go over the highlights of the eighth episode.
Synopsis: Episode 7
“Sting Before You’re Stung!”
The previous semi-final round, played by Asuka and Shindo, was nothing anyone had expected. Misaki, witnessing the fact that Shindo is getting serious because of Asuka(‘s talent?), is leaving her in shock.
At last, the players of the final match are announced. A reigning champion, Shindo, vs, a complete rookie, Saki. Who will get the winning trophy this year…?
Shindo VS Saki
Saki might be a first-time tournament participant, but, she is also the fastest Speeder ever known. She has defeated the strong and experienced with her incredible motion speed, and survived all the games thus far. Now, her last opponent to beat is Shindo, reigning champion of the FC tournament. It is a slim chance for a rookie to take over the king’s seat! Or, at least, that’s what everybody thought until the game starts.
As the game begins, Saki quickly goes in on a speed competition, calling a shot on the first point. To pay back, Shindo uses the dogfight approach to acquire two points consecutively. The game is in his lead.
At this point, Saki switches to a different strategy. She quickly soars to the high altitude of 200 meters or higher, and then, descends toward next buoy.
Shindo makes several attempts to insert the dogfight starter, however, Saki dodges all of that. Additionally, she corners him into an incredibly tight spot, which is only an inch above the water surface. Shindo can’t move. Saki scores a point.
Before the game, the general expectation was that Shindo has an upper hand. On the contrary, the truth is, Saki rules the game.
The game is set. Saki wins the match. Is she a genius or what? Her potential is terrific.
The latter half of the show focuses on Misaki’s emotions.
During the tournament, Misaki had the opportunity to play against Shindo. Though she lost, she felt she gained a meaningful experience, and began feeling confident about her own potential.
As she watched the match between Shindo and Asuka, it struck her as she figured that she had lost against Shindo even though he did not get serious with her. Additionally, Misaki is unable to understand how Shindo could still be so positive after losing the match against the rookie Saki.
Gradually, Misaki begins doubting herself. Is it possible to not be afraid of losing the game? Can I keep myself motivated to play? Can I genuinely enjoy playing FC? I don’t think… I can…
After back and forth, she starts skipping FC team practice, and eventually, she submits a request of resignation.
How did you enjoy the show?
This is the beginning of Misaki’s growing-up story! I’ve been looking forward to this all along. She is always cheerful and outgoing, but in this episode, she reveals her negative side.
Alright, now what, Misaki?
