This is Okamura, a writer of MANGA.TOKYO.
I’ve been to the preview screening of “91 Days” episode 1, airing in July, 2016!
Original TV anime series about a serious mafia drama!
The series is directed by Hiro Kaburaki, known for “Hozuki’s Coolheadedness”, series composition by Taku Kishimoto, known for “Haikyuu!!”, and produced by Shuka, known for “Durarara!! x2”. Talented creators gathered to produce a very serious revenge drama of 91 days and it is being unveiled now!!
It is set during the days of Prohibition. Legal means are ineffective and the town is ruled by the Mafia.
The town called Lawless is crowded with people for black market dealings of moonshine.
Avilio sets foot in the town again. He had his family murdered by the Mafia here.
One day Avilio received a letter from a mysterious person. It made him determined to get his revenge, and led him back to the town of Lawless. He infiltrates the Vanetti family, his foe, and gets close to Nero, the son of Don Vanetti for revenge.
A murder leads to another murder, a vengeance creates another vengeance causing a chain reaction. What would be the outcome of 91 days of struggles by the men led by sad destinies…?
It is rare for a Japanese anime show to have the Prohibition era and the Mafia as its setting. It is a show for orthodox fans as the story is stoic without any fantasy elements.
If you are still new to Japanese anime, you may be surprised at the wide range of genres and the quality it has.
The first episode is filled with startling scenes.
Particularly the last scene is brilliant and I couldn’t help making a sound of surprise to myself. This show proved to be different from a “typical revenge drama”.
The characters are all unique and different, and you can expect their attractive development in the future episodes.
Every single character seems to have his/her own way, and I can’t wait to see how they interact with each other and get involved within the limited 91 days.
The music used for the show is also special; they have put much value on the atmosphere of the show through music and recorded them at a special studio with vintage instruments.
They incorporated the music elements inspired by mafia films which adds an exceptional depth to the show.
Since this is an original anime, nobody knows how it ends.
It’s heavy and thrilling, somber but sharp. You may forget to breathe more than a few times during the show.
It’s a hard-boiled show that demands the audience to be as cool and tough as the characters in the show. Be prepared before watching it!
Please immerse yourself in the world of this anime and enjoy it to the fullest.
