Last week, I found out very belatedly that this series would end in Episode 11. Also, there will be additional episodes (four?) coming out separately on DVD etc. at a later point. I am not too happy about it since we just met Kou and additional episodes coming out later might mean that the TV series itself will not have a proper, rounded ending… However, we will see how this goes!
Japanese Title: 光くん発場とネトゲリベンジ (Kou-kun Hatsujou to Netoge Ribenji)
The time has come. While working, Naoya meets someone who is playing a game, and being intrigued by games thanks to his brother’s friends, he stays back to compliment her. The only result his action has is that she gets flustered and nervous and hurriedly leaves the café, leaving something behind. Naoya finds out that she is a student from his university and meets her at the university’s cafeteria. Once again, he tries to befriend her, since she reminds him of his brother. Nao knows how hard it is for his brother to find friends sometimes and that he could get lonely, so he gives his all to befriend her. When he asks for her number, she misunderstands him and thinks he asks for her player ID so that they could play together. Now Naoya is facing the problem that he isn’t good at playing games and asks his brother for advice…
What we can see here is what a blessed, good younger brother Naoya is. He learned from his older brother that he shouldn’t disturb him during a game and waits. I loved that part, he is so good. Please, someone, pet him for me. He is even so thoughtful that he thinks will burden Kou-kun if he is too weak of a player, making it boring for her if she has to take care of him and save his sorry little butt in the game all the time. So he tries to level up. Such a cutie pie!
I am sticking to Nao because he is the best thing in this episode (together with Kou of course). I laughed a lot at his blissful ignorance that Kou is a girl and that he was making her all flustered because he seemed to pursue her so earnestly. How his friends reacted only made it better. Let me love Nao~
Let me take a moment to fangirl over Kou-kun. She is so super cute and the voice acting is spot on. It is amazing how shy one person can be and still articulate. Naoya has so much patience with her; it doesn’t matter how much she stutters. He just smiles at her, stands awkwardly, and probably sparkles a bit. And how can she be so good in her game? I wonder how her meeting with Hirotaka would be. A proper one. I hope there will be one in the next episode!
What would an episode be without my favorite Hirotaka? This time we see him without glasses because he broke them and didn’t have time to get new ones before coming to work, so he was practically blind. The ladies, however, loved his new look and Narumi got a bit jealous. It did very well for some comedic relieve and I could watch them forever no matter what they do.
Ah, I am really bummed about the series ending early. For my taste, they introduced Kou too late, because I have been looking forward to Narumi and Hanako trying to push Kou and Nao together and teasing them without mercy and Hirotaka trying to stop them but not with a lot of effort and then there is Kabakura, who would just nag and nag but sit in the first row whenever they did something with Nao and Kou. Yes, please, I want to see that…
Aside from that, I incredibly enjoyed this episode. It was fun to watch and I hope for a good last episode next week. Let’s enjoy it together!
Also, let me take up a bit of space here for a personal note to say sorry that this article is so late. I am living in Osaka, where the earthquake hit, and even though nobody I know was injured or experienced too much damage, it was and still is nerve wrecking and it took me some time to get back on track and focus on my work. I will work hard to deliver the review of the last episode right on time, like always! =)
