In this week’s episode of Tokyo Ghoul:re, Kaneki and Touka finally elope, Mutsuki turns out to be a crazy yandere, and people get married and have a jolly old time, but not for long…
Japanese Original Episode Title: 紲 proof
Kaneki, Nishiki, and Tsukiyama try to save some ghouls that are attacked by CCG, but arrive too late and everyone is already dead. Next day, as Kaneki tries to come up with the next plan of action, Touka reveals her ‘feelings’ for him and asks him to trust his friends more and not do things by himself. Mutsuki comes in the coffee shop and starts attacking them, because she wants her ‘sensei’ to come back and join the CCG. They manage to escape and find themselves in an abandoned tower where the magic happens between them for the first time. Meanwhile, Takeomi Kuroiwa and Yoriko get married but unfortunately Furuta finds out about her relationship with Touka when they were students and locks Yoriko away. As Nishiki checks up on Kaneki, he implies to him that Touka is actually pregnant which he verifies with her himself later on and they decide to get married as well. Furuta and the Clowns are preparing for their attack on the ghouls where they are going to use their final secret weapon.
Love is in the air: This episode has way too much romance happening. We all knew that Madou and Amon were into each other (they probably run off together somewhere), as well as Kaneki and Touka, and it’s so nice to see their relationship develop in such a wonderful way. But unfortunately, everything was so god damn rushed again that the whole story lost its impact. From the moment they confess their feelings for each other to their actual wedding and soon to come baby, everything happened so fast that you couldn’t help but feel a bit uncomfortable. Still, I am so glad that they are finally together and that there were some sensual scenes between them.
Mutsuki’s deal: So this is probably another problem caused by the pacing and the plot of the anime and not the original story, but her feelings towards Kaneki and her hate towards women came literally out of nowhere. I mean you know that something is not done well, when half of the anime fans still don’t even realize that Mutsuki is a girl, so developing her story is just making everyone more confused. Long story short, the love triangle looks really silly in the anime.
Why are the Clowns working with the Washuu? Can someone explain to me why Uta is a bad guy now? It really blows my mind every time I see him talking with Furuta and planning the destruction of all ghouls. And what did Furuta meant when he said that he will release the dragon against Goat? It that girl that seems to be his weapon Rize? If so, shit is going to get so real.
The fandom’s reaction for the sex scene: I remember reading about this when the original manga chapter that contains their sex scene came out and I was utterly disgusted by the low quality of fandoms that exist out there. So basically when it came out, the fans demanded that Sui Ishida should commit suicide after what he ‘has done’. The reason for that demand was because there is a dedicated segment of fans that want Kaneki and his male best friend Hide ending up as a couple and they ended up having their ship destroyed by Sui Ishida. Honesty, no words can describe the awfulness of this situation without insulting anybody so I am just going to pass on this. You can have a look at their comments here.
It’s been a while where I actually laughed out loud while watching Tokyo Ghoul and this episode killed me in so many parts. When Touka asks him out of nowhere: ‘Are you a virgin?’ or when Nishiki tells Kaneki that Touka might be pregnant and he runs to her asking: ‘HOW ARE YOU?’. Honestly, Kaneki might be super badass but he will always remain a virgin in his soul when it comes to anything related to romance.
Also, am I the only one that got emotional with Touka’s quote when she said: ‘You gave me the same look that you gave Lize and I am a bigger idiot because it actually made me happy.’? I would write just f*ck already, but it already happened so as a fan, my happiness reaches a dangerous level.
Okay, now that all the happy stuff is out of the way, the drama is going to start with probably a lot of people getting injured. I just hope that Touka or their kid are not going to die, just for the sake of Kaneki releasing his inner beast. I wish for a good turn of events with no traumatic experiences for anyone. Yay.
