Hank’s heart must be breaking slowly with every comrade he has to take out. Just like last week, it was grippingly moving when Hank is reunited with old comrade Theo the Minotaur. I’m surprised how quickly I was drawn into this series and how emotionally moving things have progressed, it really makes me anxious for what is to come.
Japanese Original Title: ミノタウロスの要塞
His new companion Nancy doesn’t make things easier. The two journey to Rouge Hill, overrun by Incarnate Theo the Minotaur who has built a massive fortress, resulting to people losing their homes. There seems no end in sight to the Minotaur’s building project. Hank will uphold his oath no matter what to put a stop to his rogue comrades, but it doesn’t get easier.
Hello Muscles: Now Hank’s hair, I’ve said before that I have no idea what the creators were thinking there. But I forgot all about that since the glorious scene of Hank’s exposed muscles made me feel a little steamy. It was a ‘Hello there, where have you been hiding’ moment for me. I liked Hank’s character already but I like him more over here.
Trap: Nancy has all the qualities of a naive child, setting off a trap. Rotating blade headed downwards towards her, but quick on his feet, Hank saves the day. That moment though had me gasping for a second. It was tense.
Wolf Boy: Until now it had never crossed my mind what kind of beast Hank was. I highly approve of a werewolf, because whole transformation scene… well, I couldn’t take my eyes away for a second. The fight between Theo and Hank was entertaining enough but all eyes were on wolfboy.
Touching Encounters: One thing this series is doing surprisingly well at right now are the encounters between Hank and his gone rogue comrades. Eventually most of Hank’s former comrades won’t be sticking around, you expect to not remember these side characters for that fact. But that’s not the case. These brief yet saddening meetings with every former comrade Hank comes across make more impact than I ever thought. I love that the series gives us a slight glimpse of every comrade so far and it’s been enough to leave me feeling sorry for each one. Hank’s pain grows for every former comrade that dies by his hand and this episode was the most impacting so far.
Ending Theme Artwork: During the ending theme song, I love the beautiful illustrations of the beasts rolling across the screen. They are gorgeously detailed.
I am slowly getting an inch more excited with every episode. I am feeling BIG TIME over here for poor Hank, since his pain grows more with every life he takes. I just want to give him a big hug, only if I can with those exposed lush muscles of his… because that was a GOOD scene. Fanservice that was welcomed.
Nancy’s character is the one that can get in your way. She reminded me of Rocky from Claymore constantly getting in Clare’s way especially when fighting. But the difference I like with Nancy’s character, she wants to understand why Hank killed his father. This aspect makes her character a little less annoying but honey, should be bloody obvious. Oh god it’s beyond laughable, can’t lie. If naive Nancy can grow up a bit during the series, maybe I’ll cut her some slack a bit. She’s not the world’s worst character, just the ones that stick to you like leeches are annoying.
Finally, we got to see Hank’s beast form which was more than appropriate with that set of muscles. The glowing white aesthetic surrounding Hank in his beast form makes him look beautiful. I’ll take seeing Hank more in this form especially during fights. Let me bring it down a happy note here to talk about ‘big’ Liz: her bust is over excessive for me. I have no issues with her character but her bust size not a necessary thing for her character role, lame lure in.
Hank’s Hair A No, But His Muscles: HELL YES!
Another enjoyable episode this week from this series. All I feel at this point is sympathy for poor Hank and what awaits him beyond yonder. His pain is only getting to get worse, and we know this thanks to the last few snippets at the end. There is another beast extermination group? I don’t know what was in that chamber thing he was sitting in front of but it won’t be good!!
