The final episode of To The Abandoned Sacred Beasts had me begging for just one thing: A SECOND SEASON. It’s the first time in my anime-watching career that, during the last episode, I’m left in such a cliffhanger! This anime had its ups and downs, but in general, it managed to be adventurous, interesting, and decent. I can’t accept that it will be over now, while the plot just started to unfolding. Yet, allow me to be more specific and tell you what happend in the final episode!
Miles and Hank are ready to get into a beastial combat. However, sneaky Wall (I never liked this guy) decides to interfere by spreading Abi’s Poison, a secret gas-weapon created after the Abi Incarnate. This monstrous substance caused Miles such a shocking bleeding and dissolving, and it was the most brutal thing that occured in the whole series. It was utterly raw, twisted, and painful to watch…
Moving on though, and as I’m struggling to decide which one of the numerous events that took place I should mention first, I’ll choose the most… surprising one: Miglieglia, the yellow-eyed-white-hair girl from Cain’s crew, seems to have the most scary ability ever. She resurrects the dead. For the love of God, undead vampires AND zombies? Give the military a break! Still, that answers many queries, since it explains how Schaal’s father returned as a zombie. So, the fortress worked as a distraction, while Cain’s zombie army took down the Southern Capital… If you’re feeling dizzy by the countless new info, don’t worry, we all are! This single episode felt like 10, because of the myriad disclosures. I don’t understand why the production rushed to fill all these info into 23 minutes. There was time to do that in the previous episodes. Who’s messing with us?
SO, what happened in the final episode? Cain appears out of nowhere, casually murdering everyone. Hank decides to wake up the beast inside him, giving this arrogant vampire what he deserves: a punch in the face. Iit was strange that Cain was immune to bullets and explosives, yet a punch knocked him down. I believe that it was he lacked confidence during the moment, since he felt furious and jealous towards Hank and lost his self-concentration. By the end, BOOM! The production rubs into our faces that Elaine is still alive, Schaal is still dumb, and the world is in chaos. Is it considered a proper finale? I think not. It’s a cliffhanger, and a big one!
Cain: Cain’s power-up was horrifying to watch. His abilities have reached a whole new level of deadliness and he’s captured into his madness. It was sad to realise that he still, somehow, considers Hank his friend and I’m sure that somehow he dreams to conquer the world alongside him. Bromance? Maybe yes!
Plot twist: Up to this point, I’m sure that many fans were thinking that Elaine might still be alive. So, our guess were right and she’s Cain’s hostage. When Hank finds out, we’ll witness the most epic battle of the whole series.
Miles: Melting and dissolving. Need I say more? Yikes!
Do I know You?: Miglieglia’s ability and style reminded me of the Night King of Game of Thrones. Not only he had similar skills, he was also as silent and deadly as she is. If they cooperated, our world would end immediately.
I can’t help but feel like the story has more to offer. I’m almost sure that we’ll get to see a second season because it’s necessary if want to see what happened with Elaine and the war. This final episode hinted that many things are left untold, so the story needs to unfold even further. I’m quite troubled by the ending, since I can’t find myself siding with neither Cain nor the military -especially after the poison occurrence. I can’t accept a ‘go-read-the-manga’ ending, so a second season is a must. Plus, they enjoy making wolf-related anime, so I’m positive that we’ll see a continuation of the series. I’ll be in the ‘season 2 waiting room’.
Are you feeling incomplete by the finale? Do you believe we’ll get to see a second season? I can’t wait to read your opinion here, in MANGA.TOKYO!
