The Rising Of The Shield Hero Episode 24 Review: Guardians of Another World

Just when you thought Naofumi had found new buddies to join his merry party, the anime had different plans for our heroes in this week’s episode. I felt sorry for Naofumi; He and L’Arc make a good bromance. But the next wave hits and secret intentions are revealed. Second to last episode caught me off guard this week but loved where things went. I didn’t expect anything less from this amazing series.

Plot

The next wave hit at sea this time and Queen Mirellia rallies her army to aid the heroes against the monsters. L’Arc and Therese help alongside as well or so everyone thought. Things take an unexpected turn and an old face reappears and causes more havoc.

Episode Highlights

Bromance Interrupted: L’Arc and Naofumi had a great bromance forming between the pair. Last episode I was suspicious if it was an act from L’Arc, and sadly, that was the case. Both guys have the same reason for fighting: It’s revealed that L’Arc and Therese’s homeworld is plagued by the waves as well. To save it they must kill the four heroes, but they are not sure how that will help. Maybe we can link this to the appearance of the mysterious Glass, both L’Arc and Therese made a deal with her to kill the heroes and that will stop the attacks on their world. There is a huge junk we’re missing here to make it clearer. Why getting rid of the heroes will help them?

Nowhere To Be Seen: As usual Ren, Itsuki, and Motoyasu were about as useful as a broom, being knocked into the sea by L’Arc. We don’t want useless fighters on the scene. I would be the same.

Attack Combination: Naofumi, Raphtalia, Melty, and Filo attack combination against L’Arc to take him down was AMAZING to watch. Everyone felt so in sync with one another and got to show off how much stronger they have all become. Naofumi has transcended into a worthy hero and calling bluff with L’Arc was very tactful. He tried and catch him off guard. I love that L’Arc is on the same level as Naofumi and has someone at equal strength. It’s a shame they’re not on the same side right now.

Waste No Time: Queen Mirellia is all about go go, making the previous ruler (aka Trash) look absolutely pathetic. She made haste in organizing an army battalion to take on the oncoming wave. Queen of steel, ugh love this woman.

Rival: L’Arc is a formidable, amazing rival for Naofumi to go up against. I could watch them spar all day. Both guys are so similar in personality and goals, hence why they have a natural flow whenever they’re together.

This EPISODE completely has thrown me off as it reveald that L’Arc and Therese are in an alliance with Glass and wish to kill the four heroes. Ahhh, WHAT DOES THIS ALL MEAN!! There was a fantastic flow going here between L’Arc and Naofumi and that’s been disrupted already. Last thing you wanted to see was the two of them fighting but I couldn’t look away for a moment. I loved watching these two fight and Naofumi have someone at his skill level to fight against. Both get on well together and share similar goals and traits. NOT FAIR.

But I loved how Naofumi got to show off his bluffing skills and caught L’Arc off guard so he could launch a frontal assault combination with his party. It was an epic scene to watch. If there is another season of Shield Hero, I want more combination attacks. The fight scene between Naofumi and L’Arc was hell entertaining to watch, as it was watching everyone take down the whale monster. The action sequences have ramped up.

UGHHH, final episode next week!! I don’t know how to feel about it if we get a cliffhanger. A battle between Naofumi and Glass is going to be happening soon but I need to know the important factors here. Why have L’Arc and Therese joined Glass? Why is killing the four heroes going to save their world? Maybe they only have a temporary truce with Glass as they do her bidding and then she saves their world? All I’m sure of at this point is we are in for a cracking ending and another season is definitely coming. THEY CAN’T END THE SERIES HERE. Because if they do, next week’s review might not be a happy one.

Naofumi and L’Arc Bromance Is A Thing

I can’t believe how fast time has gone by. I feel January and the first episode was just yesterday. Fast forward and we’re already at the last episode of this amazing series I’ve come to love to death. This ride has been so damn entertaining and set new heights for the isekai genre.

I will pray for another season… IT’S GONNA HAPPEN, IT HAS TO!! I’ll fall into a pit of despair if it doesn’t… Anyway next week should be awesome and I might cry, haha. The name of the next episode has me nervous as it indicates it could be all over for good…. ahhh no!!
