This week unveiled some truths and had an unexpected bonus, a swarm of cutie filolials. We’re introduced to another beauty, Fitoria queen of Filolials, who revealed things even our four heroes weren’t even aware of before entering this world. The ending has me excited for the next week… Oh man!
Japanese Original Title: フィロリアルの女王
Plot
Raiba releases a dragon that had been sealed away, which it too too powerful for Naofumi and the others to destroy. Then a swarm of Filolial appear out of nowhere and saves them. It wasn’t just any Filolial but Queen Fitoria who watches over her kind and she unveils information about the heroes they’re not even aware of.
Episode Highlights
Fearless Filo: Filo is just a little pocket rocket, never flinching in the sight of danger. This is one of the reasons I’ve begun to love her so much, not just because she is cute. That’s just a bonus!!
Fitoria: Fitoria really captivated me in this episode, not just from how she fights. That dragon had no chance against a Filolial centuries old, who wiped the floor on them within seconds. I love watching these Filolial fight, it’s badass. I am really curious to know her background especially when she spoke of the previous heroes. Fitoria made a promise with this hero to watch over the world and its heroes. Also can we just say her color coordination of pastel blue and pink works for her so well. Loved her whole character design, adorable.
KFC farm: Naofumi’s compassion knows no bounds. When everyone is sitting around the fire, eating their meal, the swarm of Filolial makes goo goo eyes of their wanting some. Naofumi gives in quickly and makes a batch extra for the Filolial, ahh so adorable. He made an amusing comment, ‘Why Did I Even Have To Feed This KFC Farm?’. Perfect pun right there.
Queen Rides In Style: Queen must always make an entrance. I cracked up with Fitoria asking to speak with the others in another location, and a Cinderella-like carriage just appearing. A carriage was the last thing I was expecting to see.
Believe Him Now: Maybe Itsuki and Ren will be so quick to judge Naofumi and ACTUALLY LISTEN. When they investigate Naofumi’s hunch, they find that the Church of the Three Heroes is hiding a secret. They discover a hidden archive full of books not knowing Myne is watching them.
Heroes Work Together: Fitoria revealed some interesting things during this episode which might change the course of things. But the idea of the heroes working together? I have no idea how that is even going to work with how things currently are at. It brings into question: why all four heroes were summoned at the same time upon arriving? I think this all leads back to the King from previous episodes quoting that the shield hero has done him and his family wrong, but it’s a wild guess at this point.
Themes and Trivia
Not Just Melromarc: According to Fitoria, the four heroes were supposed to protect each a country from the wave. But till this point none of them have known this fact.
Growth: Filo has grown at a faster rate than other Filolial all because of being raised by a hero. Very interesting and hopefully we found out why this is a special case.
Comments
Rising Of The Shield Hero has stepped up its game for the second half in the series, giving us more to latch onto in terms of the plot. These past three episodes have been great, focusing on Raphtalia’s character, which I felt was needed. This episode revealed some interesting points into the four heroes’ history and finally we might get to see into the past. I hope Fitoria doesn’t become the heroes’ enemy; damn how the episode ended. Kill all the heroes? Damn… but things would become even more interesting if this happened. Nonetheless ,really enjoyable episode this week as this series’ plot and characters continue to keep me entertained and hooked on. It’s a favorite in my anime library.
Can I Get a Filolial to Go?
Ahh, this week’s episode had some cute moments along with some interesting plot reveals. The idea of the four heroes coming to a reconciliation is… I can see it but blondie arse will be the hardest to get around. Next episode hopefully covers Fitoria’s promise to this hero. We might finally learn some backstory on the past heroes.
