Hello everyone! How have you been? Is the summer heat starting to hit you hard? Because here in Japan it’s almost impossible to breathe. I’m not even talking about the hit, it’s the humidity… Life is hard when it’s Japanese summer… But, on the other hand our characters are still enjoying the chilly and nice winter.
This episode was basically only about Kato and Tomoya. We didn’t even get to see any of the other characters. It is a given we will not be seeing much of Utaha from now on, since now she is a university student, but you’d expect to at least see Eriri. But that’s okay. Kato was quite sad, angry, you could even say depressed in the past few episodes. It is totally acceptable to have her be the main character in one of the episodes without getting interrupted by anybody else.
The episode in general was okay, a moderate amount of fanservice, some jokes. But it wasn’t exactly the most amusing episode out there, to me it felt like they were just trying to fill the time with something. But let’s move forward and see what we get.
Japanese Original Episode Title:フラグを折らなかった彼女
The episode itself was a pretty regular episode of Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata Flat, but then again it was a bit dull, if you ask me. Too much talking, almost no action. Tomoya kept apologizing, and Kato took her time to forgive him. Or at least that’s what she was trying to show. You could tell she really wanted to be the part of the next project, that Kato really wanted to return to the circle. I mean, let’s be honest. She was saying that she is angry at Tomoya, that she doesn’t want to be a part of all this childish games, but at the end of the day she ends up going back to Tomoya’s place, cook curry for him, then take a bath in his bathtub, sleep in Tomoya’s bed and finally even give him a belated Valentine chocolate.
The thing that struck me was Kato saying that Tomoya is being delusional for thinking that she might be in love with him. Look at her actions, she is so so so in love with Tomoya! At least that’s how I see it. That is exactly why she was angry with him, that’s why she was unable to forgive Tomoya for a long time.
I am glad they made up, but I am also pretty sure that Eriri and Utaha are going to be very very jealous when they learn about Tomoya and Kato spending so much time together!
As I have already said, the episode was quite dull, but there were a couple of scenes I would actually like to mention.
・After deciding to go to Tomoya’s place and have a discussion, the two of them go to a mall to buy some things, like food. It’s hilarious seeing Kato taking Tomoya to an underwear store with her so very extremely casually. They talk while she’s trying to choose what to buy, and Tomoya is all blushing and stuff.
・When Kato gets into the bathtub she keeps getting angry at Tomoya. She takes her phone to the bathroom just to call him and yell at him some more.
・And finally Tomoya keeps apologizing throughout the episode, which really starts to get a bit annoying.
In my humble opinion the previous few episodes really lack action. It’s mostly monologues or dialogues, and I don’t know about you but for me having the characters just talk, with no action material whatsoever, the episodes can get really boring. Well, I do understand why we had this type of an episode for the latest one: the episode was mainly centered on having the two of them make up and maybe even strengthen their bond.
Catchy Epilogue Title
Well everyone! The episode is over, and we don’t have too many left until the season is over too. I hope to see some more action, even if it is moe or say tsundere. I do hope to see a bit more of Eriri and Utaha. I am especially interested to see university student Utaha. She must look gorgeous!
Well either way! Thank you all for reading my review of Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata Flat. If there is anything you disagree with just make sure to leave a comment here on Manga.Tokyo and we can have a discussion!
See you soon!
