Summer 2019 Anime: Official Twitter Hashtags & Pages
Summer is near, my dear friends, and our tablets and phones will need some extra space for all the amazing anime that are coming our way.
Overlord really likes to introduce a bunch of characters at the same time and the funny thing is that they are probably not going to last for more than two or three episodes.
Japanese Original Episode Title: 死出への誘い
Lord Fluder, a strong magic caster that works for the Emperor, is conducting a series of experiments on the undead and is trying to submit one of the Dead Knights to him but fails. Momonga and Nabe have decided to go to the Baharuth Empire’s Capital City of Arwintar and try to ‘sell their name’ as adamantite adventurers and they also realize that in this city they put more effort in magic research and military improvements than anything else they have come across so far. The Emperor wants to investigate more on the Jaldabaoth demon that appeared in the nearby kingdom and a group of warriors, or as they are called ‘workers’, named Foresight are introduced to us as part of a quest that involves a variety of warriors investigating an ‘unexplored ruin’ that seems to have appeared out of nowhere. Momon and Nabe are hired to support them as they set their camps nearby the ruins.
A plan to make Nazarick a country: This detail always slips my mind. Yes, they are trying to make Nazarick a country… right. I don’t even want to know what kind of plan they have thought in order to make Nazarick known to the rest of the world. Poor ‘workers’.
The Foresight relationships: Welp, I like how Overlord throws random sexual content every now and then with no shame whatsoever. Imina and Hekkeran are together and we saw an after-sex shot of them, which is kind of surprising because from what we have seen so far in the anime, MADHOUSE has no problem of showing actual sex scenes (the unforgettable lizard sex scene must be one of the most obscene things I have witnessed in an action adventure anime).
Brain is having a good life: He certainly looks like he is in a much better situation than before. After facing Shalltear and having no hope in humanity whatsoever, he got to be in the guards of Princess Renner and spare with Stronoff and Climb in the King’s Castle. Not too shabby Brain.
Momon and the quest: He is so badass in everything he does. After asking them a ‘truly worthless’ question, he now has zero moral dilemmas about their death. Well, it’s their fault actually, they can’t expect him to be all nice if they say to him ‘look we are going to steal your stuff’. Once again, poor ‘workers’.
What exactly are the ‘Workers’?: Workers were most of the time adventurer dropouts: some were too vicious and cruel, or they angered someone in power, or they just wanted more money. But some of them were stifled by the bureaucracy; for instance, Adventurers were forbidden from using healing magic on injured people who couldn’t pay compensation. This was because healing magic was generally the providence of the temples and churches, who used the donations they collected to remain independent and self-sufficient and to train new priests. That being said, Workers of this sort were rarer; a significant portion of them were wanted criminals. You can read more about them here.
One thing that surprised me in this episode was that Arche is able to know how much magic people have and what is more surprising is that we didn’t get to see a scene of her seeing Momon and Nabe and shitting herself. It will probably come later on.
Also, these ‘workers’ are so dead… I can’t really remember the last time something good happened after talking about retirement. They are going to regret saying they’ve been given enough gold to put their lives on the line. I can’t wait to see all the shit that Heavenly Warrior Erya jerk is going to go through, he looks like he really deserves it.
One more thing: is every noble guy in Overlord a jackass? Why are they all so corrupted and evil? Probably because they are inspired by the majority of nobility back in actual history that was indeed full of assholes. Although they all look like they don’t give a shit about their people, I am very intrigued to learn more about Jircniv Rune Farlord El Nix aka the Bloody Emperor.
I look forward to seeing the bloodbath that is sure to come. It’s going to be a slaughter and I think we will get to see Papa Bones in his greatest badass-ery of all time.
