Did you think that Nazarick would become a country so easily? There will be an epic battle before so Ainz can show how much of a badass he actually is. Also, the characters’ death flags in this episode were out of control.
Japanese Original Episode Title: 戦争準備
The Empire made its first move to assist Nazarick becoming its own nation and declared that the land of E-Rantel belongs to Ainz Ooal Gown. The Kingdom of E-Rantel strongly disagrees with the Empire’s decision and are willing to go to war despite Stronoff’s warning about the power of Ainz. The Nobles and the King discuss their plan of action and agree to delay their reply to the Empire in order to prepare for war. Two months later, all the military arrangements are done and the King decides to make Marquis Raeven the one who will lead the war and make his son Prince Barbro go to Carne Village and gather up information from the villagers that were saved from Ainz. As the battle grows near, Stronoff meets Brain and Climb to talk about Ainz, the battlefield, their skills, and the fun times they will have after the war is over. Meanwhile, we see the Empire’s army getting ready along with Ainz, who will actually take part in this fight and who summons a bunch of Death Knights to come and fight beside him. Prince Barbro heads for Carne Village and orders his men to go as fast as possible so they can be back to E-Rantel soon and join the rest of the men that will go to battle.
So much politics: This episode did a great job of building up the tension for the intense battle that is about to follow. Seeing the ignorance of the nobles and the King while preparing against Ainz and discussing politics was actually quite entertaining.
Marquis Raeven: He is actually a good guy and he will probably die very soon. That scene where he has fun with his wife and son raised his death flag higher than anyone else’s so far. Plus, the King seems to like him, he is even on good terms with Stronoff and he is the one that will lead the war. He is definitely going to have some kind of unfortunate ending.
‘He’s probably as strong as five thousand men’: I honestly felt bad for Stronoff when the noble said that. The noble believes that Stronoff’s power is equal to one thousand men and just because he respects him, he says that Ainz is about five thousand. Although Stronoff still doubted that Ainz’s power was only equal to five thousand men, he thought it would be better to thank him and try to improve the men’s mood. Poor Stronoff, you should have been straight to them and say: ‘Dude, we are all going to die.’
Ainz’s army: The Kingdom spends the entire episode and two months in-universe preparing for the battle and Ainz-sama calls in his army of Dead Knights in the blink of an eye. They have absolutely no chance of winning this war.
The Marquis’s favorite food: Marquis Raeven’s favorite food is said to be gabura fish meunière. Meunière refers to both a sauce and a method of preparation, primarily for fish. The word itself means ‘miller’s wife’ in French. Thus to cook something à la meunière was to cook it by first dredging it in flour. A meunière sauce is a simple preparation—brown butter, chopped parsley, and lemon—and the name refers to its unelaborate rustic nature.
When the King said, ‘The demand is not legitimate’, I laughed so hard. Of course, it’s not. Ainz didn’t even exist in your world until a few months ago, you poor old fool. Also, bringing the heir to the throne into battle, even if they are trying to avoid him being close to the actual battle is definitely not a good idea. Something is telling me that there will be a lot of drama in the next few episodes.
Gazef, Brain and Climb’s fates are also in question. Talking about how they will enjoy their drinks after the war is definitely a hint for more death flags. But, Brain wants to ask Momon about Shalltear so I really hope that he will not die so we can witness a glorious scene of Ainz trying to come up with a bunch of bullshit and Brain going: ‘Sasuga Momon-sama!’
Is the next episode going to be a massive slaughter? To be honest, I am not that sure because Ainz seems to value E-Rantel a lot, so I don’t think he would kill all of its people. In any case, there is no doubt that we will see an overpowered Ainz fighting them like small flies.
