How much info was there in this episode of Overlord? When Princess Renner was talking with the Marquis and the Prince, I felt my head ready to explode. Despite all that, how much do you ship Sebas and Tsuare now? I know I am, Sebuare for life.
Japanese Original Episode Title: 王都動乱序章
Ainz along with Cocytus, Demiurge, and Victim came to interrogate Sebas for his latest decisions and actions. Ainz starts asking him what exactly were his intentions when he decided to save Tsuare and why he went through all of that trouble for that girl. Without expecting much of an answer, he commands Sebas to kill her and Sebas is quick to follow. Cocytus stops him and Ainz is feeling reassured that Sebas is not planning to betray him. He is just following his own call. After a long discussion about what exactly to do with Tsuare, Ainz accepts to put her under his protection and bring her to Nazarick. He then commands Sebas and Solution to go buy some grain for Demiurge and then head back to Nazarick. In the palace, Princess Tsuare is having a meeting with Blue Rose and later on with Marquis Raeven and her brother to discuss further as to what the next plan of action will be. Climb bring Unglaus to the room, since he is going to be helping them eliminate Eight Fingers. Sebas and Solution come back to the mansion only to find that Tsuare has been kidnapped. Solution then informs Ainz about their current situation and he contacts Albedo to get some of their forces ready in order to assist them.
Sebas and Tsuare kiss scene: I can’t believe that we got to see some romance in Overlord other than the lizard one. It was so unexpected as well. Damn, Tsuare has some balls to do that! Poor Sebas, he was so shocked he didn’t know how to react to it.
Hoedown about cooking: It was really funny to watch Sebas and Demiurge argue about what kind of cooking Tsuare has to offer. Ainz’s genuine laugh as well was so unexpected but poor thing it didn’t take long for it to go away because of the mysterious green thing that is disabling any kind of emotion from him.
Princess Renner is evil: So that girl finally shows her true colors. We might not have been able to see her yandere face but still, the things she mentioned are plenty enough to understand that her state of mind is not well. She wants to marry the Marquis’ son who is 5 years old and have Climb as her sex slave or something because as she mentioned, she doesn’t just ‘love’ him. Creepy.
Albedo and her harem of Ainz body pillows: It’s been a while since she has seen the spotlight and oh my… her collections of Ainz plush toys and body pillows has increased dramatically! I wonder how he would react if he went into her room and saw all that.
Ainz is not who you think he is: In the first season of Overlord, we are introduced to a character called Pandora’s Actor, a shapeshifter who guards the treasury and has the ability to mimic the appearance and capabilities of any of the 41 supreme beings. There is a popular theory going around that Demiurge actually replaced Ainz with Pandora’s Actor in the first half of the interrogation in case Sebas had truly betrayed Nazarick. The reason why this theory exists is because Ainz is acting in an unusual manner with a dramatic and exaggerated behavior. When he returns Victim to Nazarick and comes back, the contrast is quite clear, that’s why at this point he notices that Tsuare looks similar to Ninya and asks to see her once again.
Albedo and the flag: In the light novel, after her conversation with Ainz, she looks at the flag and says the following: ‘the Great Underground Tomb of Nazarick belongs to you and you alone. I, Albedo, wish only to serve you. Ahh… How I wish I could hear your wondrous name again someday — .’ In the anime, the way that it was said and staged looked like she was upset with his decisions, but in the light novels it looks more like she just wants the façade to be over and Momonga to be back as himself.
I can sense some sort of frustration from the guardians of Nazarick, especially from Demiurge and from Albedo. They probably disagree with the way Ainz is handling things at the moment or more likely they don’t even understand his intentions, which will probably lead to some interesting events in the future. Demiurge went on his own as well in this episode, so something fishy is definitely going to happen soon.
I am wondering how all the events that happened in this episode will connect later on and if Momonga, or better Momon, is going to be in the spotlight in the last episodes of this season. That scene where he and Demiurge fight in the opening hasn’t taken place yet and I am so intrigued to see what will follow!
