This week’s episode was puuuurfectly delightful, Haru and Subaru are growing closer and closer day by day. Bit by bit they learn the ins and outs of being a family. ‘I Want to Tell You’ will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside!
An unexpected visitor teaches Subaru and important lesson about cat care. Meanwhile Haru discovers that a member of her family may be much closer than she ever imagined.
Cat Tricks: Nana makes a home visit to offer some of her sage cat advice. She usually dispenses some great cat raising tips, and this episode is no different. Some of the highlights include the water bottle food dispenser to help with regulating the amount of food Haru eats.
Flashbacks: There are even more flashbacks in this week’s episode, one focusing on Subaru’s home life when his parents were still alive, and the other about his interactions with a teacher at school.
Themes & Trivia
Meaningful Name: The pet shop clerk stops by for a visit and we finally get her name, Okami Nana. Okami means wolf in Japanese, so there is a funny bit early on where Subaru imagines that a wolf is at his door… of course it’s just Nana. Though she does have a tendency to scold Subaru when he makes ‘mistakes’ with Haru and her outbursts are a bit wolf-like….
People Look Like Their Pets: It’s often said that pets take after their owners, either in their appearance or in their mannerisms. Nana and Subaru have a conversation about how family tend to take after one another and since pets are a part of the family that it’s only natural that they start to pick up some of their owner’s tendencies.
Subaru had a lady friend over for a visit and I totally ship it… that is until that guy showed up at the end of the episode. Who is he? Boyfriend? Husband? Brother? Alas, it seems the only lucky lady in Subaru’s life right now is Haru~
The reveal that Nana’s cat Hachi was one of Haru’s siblings is definitely the highlight of the episode. The reunion between the two kitties had to be the cutest thing I’ve seen from this series to date. You can just feel their excitement at having found one another again and its these types of heartwarming moments that make this anime such a gem. It’s a bit slow at times, but when they hit you with those feels, My Roommate is a Cat goes hard!
Reunited, and it feels so good~
This was another sweet episode, made much more heartwarming by the super cute kitty family reunion. Nana is a great character and I really look forward to seeing more of her in the coming episodes as a confidant to Subaru as he navigates caring for Haru. All in all,a sweet but ultimately uncomplicated episode.
