The students of Class 1-A go Plus Ultra once again in this week’s My Hero Academia! I couldn’t help but be super-duper proud of them, and I know I’ve been saying that a lot in my recent reviews! Whether they were acting on their own or working as a group, it was a proven fact that these kids are truly hero material, not only conquering obstacles with their improved abilities but also with their brains!
Japanese Original Episode Title: 1年A組
Continuing from last week’s cliffhanger, we got to witness Todoroki’s battle in full detail, which is an anime-only story, as I mentioned last week. It’s not the only filler – or should I say thorough account-, though, as this episode also demonstrated how Yaoyorozu, Asui, Jiro, and Shoji fought against a very organized group of girls! Meanwhile, just as their classmates were pushing onward, so were Midoriya and Bakugo’s groups doing their best to get past their own hurdles!
One-man team: Is it safe to say that I could hear the many Todoroki fans screaming once he defeated his enemies with such class? (Yes, I am one of those screaming fans.) He sure showed those colorful ninjas that a lone wolf can easily win an unfair fight as long as he has a good strategy! I was amazed at how calmly he handled the situation. Normally you’d be in a panic not knowing how your enemy fights, let alone facing a lot of them at once! And yet he was still able to come up with such a plan under that pressure! To think he was also still trying to coordinate his moves then! My bias might be showing, but with that victory, I can confidently say that this boy is just spectacular!
Battle of wits: Watching Yaoyorozu unknowingly go toe to toe with Intelli made me realize how far she’s grown! I mean, last season she was facing severe insecurity issues, especially with her strategies. Now she managed to save her friends, and help them all pass the test! However, we can’t deny that it’s also thanks to her friends that she didn’t fail, and it just showed that their friendship’s far better than Intelli’s girl posse. With this, having defeated the incredibly smart Intelli in a battle of wits, Yaoyorozu definitely nabbed the right to be called the smartest of the smart! Way to go, girl!
Weird meat pile: Those who’ve watched Made in Abyss probably got war flashbacks when they saw Kirishima turned into a ball of meat, among a few other victims. I know I did! Shishikura’s quirk is hella weird and creepy! He talked a lot, too, and basically did the same thing as Inasa did, going overboard on his victims even when he only needed two to pass. Or maybe that’s the number of people who tried to attack him… I hope Bakugo and Kaminari can save their bro, and pass the exam together after showing Shishikura how U.A. does things!
