The sixth episode of Maou-sama, Retry! didn’t have the charm of the previous ones.
This episode was dull and boring. The fancy meal in the beginning made me tired and Butterfly’s appearance is the only thing worth mentioning. I like the fact that Kunai turns into a successful businessman and his manipulation skills over a product’s value are awesome. However, the rest of the happenings didn’t make enough sense for me.
Satanists came out of nowhere in order to attack, but they got beaten up in 0.1 millisecond. They’re never prepared and no one seems to take them seriously. The demon they summoned looked like a troll and Demon-Lord vanished him in an instant. This event turned him into a popular star among the citizens and I sense that each one of them will be a client at his new spa.
Sparking Lady: Madame Butterfly sure knows how to draw the attention. She was sparking everywhere and her luminous aura fitted her perfectly! She kinda reminded me of the witch in Howl’s Moving Castle, with her double chin, her big eyes, and her fab outfits.
Themes & Trivia
Noma: This episode’s fancy restaurant is called Noma Noma. There is a famous restaurant with the name Noma, which is considered by many as ‘the best in the world’.
This episode lacked in humor and punchlines and that’s a shame, considering that they’re the main reasons behind this anime’s popularity. The action seemed out of place and everything was rushed and felt a little bit cheap. I can’t get over the fact that everyone screams the name of an attack before casting it… It appears that sneaking mode is not an option in Infinite Game.
The animation is still poor but at least sound is getting better, so I’m not complaining. Yet I was expecting to see more comedy in Maou-sama, Retry!, since that’s why it won my heart in the first place.
‘Are you the guy in the poster?’
I’m not pleased with this episode but I’m looking forward to the next ones, hoping that humor will return. What do you think? Can’t wait to read your comments here, in MANGA.TOKYO!
