Episode 20 of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind marks a huge turning point in the story as Trish and Bucciarati come into direct contact with the Boss and his Stand, King Crimson. So much has happened that it’s almost hard to believe that the series has only covered the span of a few days so far!
Japanese title: ボスからの最終指令
Bucciarati’s gang have arrived at the point where they are to hand over Trish. They are given instructions to take her along with only one bodyguard to the top of the church tower. Bucciarati accompanies Trish and she finds herself overcome with fear. However, she takes control of herself and enters the elevator with Bucciarati. As they reach the top, Bucciarati finds that all that’s left of Trish in the elevator is her hand! It’s here that any of Bucciarati’s lingering (false) loyalty to this boss comes crashing down at an insane speed and he resolves to assassinate the boss and take Trish back. Unfortunately for him, the Boss unleashes his Stand, Kind Crimson, on the capo.
– The scene where the fear of the unknown starts to hit Trish is one of my favorites. At the end of the day, she is still a child who has suddenly been thrust into a situation that would be difficult for any of us to grasp. I like that the anime gave more focus on the fact that Bucciarati offered Trish his hand only for her to refuse and eventually take it anyway of her own accord. It’s clear that Bucciarati wants to protect Trish not because it is an order, but because he sees her as a human. Such a tiny action can have a lot of meaning.
– I like Bucciarati’s backstory because it shows his intelligence and kindness from even a young age. He stayed with his father because he knew that he needed his son, and were it not for the incident with the drug dealers may have led a peaceful life. Nevertheless, Bucciarati is cool and calculating, almost too easily disposing of the drug dealers who came to knock off his father.
– The backstory for Bucciarati was portrayed in the anime almost exactly as it happened in the manga. The only difference is that we were actually shown scenes Bucciarati joining Passione and discovering drugs in his city. This was only described with text in the manga.
– The location for this episode is Venice’s San Giorgio Maggiore. The church on the island venerates St George, and the name of course fits JoJo perfectly. For those of you who may not have realized yet, JoJo author Araki is quite the Italophile, and has done a lot of location-hunting in the country.
It’s here! The biggest turning point in Golden Wind. Bucciarati and Giorno planned to work their way up to the top of Passione to change things, but it looks like it’s not going to go as planned. We’ve now seen King Crimson (it has lips! lol) and Bucciarati is currently looking like one of those doughnut rings on Giorno’s head. I wouldn’t be surprised if the opening next episode has sound effects, as is JoJo tradition when the story changes direction on prepares for the next opening. Now I really can’t wait for next week!
Ciao for now!
