DanMachi’s ninth episode is dedicated to Haruhime’s rescue. Because of that, you’re gonna witness plenty of semi-nude battles taking place, and with Mikoto’s crazy skills. Everything was intense and the story unfolded in a pretty straightforward and engaging way. Let’s take a closer look to this week’s events!
Bell decides to man up and defend the imprisoned Haruhime by saving her from her upcoming doom. Our badass girl, Mikoto, decides to join him. At this point, allow me to confess how much I love Mikoto! She’s sophisticated and determined, yet she remains sensitive and kind. Back to the plot though. While Bell causes a… blowing destruction, Mikoto uses her ninja skills to find and free the foxy-lady. Sadly, she gets her butt kicked and Bell shows up to save the day.
All this was more predictable than it should and failed to amaze me. Just for once, I would like to see the supportive characters achieving something without Argonaut’s help. Except that I feel already tired by Haruhime’s surrender. Yeap, she probably suffers from depression and anxiety, yet she could at least have tried to help her rescuers. She has become quite dull, and she’s easy to foretell. Till the end, the famous killing stone is easily destroyed, leaving us in a cliffhanger, champing for the continuation.
Seduction: Ishtar is determined to seduce Bell, but this little Rookie is tough to get. Even though she uses her tempting and sinful body, he’s immune to her charm. That was a poor move by him, according to my humble opinion. His rejection made this crazy Goddess even crazier. For the love of God, Bell, take one for the team!
Mikoto: I see a lot of Mikoto in an episode, I approve the episode! End of story.
Army: It seems that Freya is getting ready for the upcoming war. The hints of the preparations made me cheer, since I can’t wait to see how she’ll handle this whole troublesome situation. Without any doubt, she’s the most smart and manipulative hero of DanMachi and, since the first season, I was excited to see more of her! It appears that my wish will be fulfilled quite soon.
I’m gonna begin the Comments section with all the negatives I was able to spot in this episode. So, allow me to justify my anger! First of all, I get it why Aisha didn’t take part in the roof-battle event, since she secretly wants to save Haruhime. Yet, I don’t understand why Phryne did nothing. This creepy frog could have easily won against Bell and Mikoto, even with her hands wrapped behind her. Yet, she decided not to help, and as a result the killing stone got destroyed. It’s all her fault, considering the fact she’s the strongest one. She didn’t even ran against Bell, while a few minutes ago she was furious because of his escape. An attack would be the only logical thing. However, she decided not to act… I have many questions about this event and I hope to get some logical answers. Plus, why was Ishtar absent from the ritual?
Except the above, the episode was eventful and adventurous, leading this arc close to its end. I hope for an explanatory episode where all the secret conspiracies (if there are any) will be revealed. ‘Till then, I’ll make up scenarios about Phryne’s apathy!
‘He’s mocking me…’
