Fanservice, prostitutes, melancholy, and an endless chase: that could be a proper summary of DanMachi’s sixth episode. The City of Lust is full of desire and greed… You’ll be startled by what’s going on inside this sinful place. So, let’s take a look!
After Mikoto’s privacy is violated by Bell’s, Welf’s, and Lily’s stalking, the team ends up in City of Lust. They’re trying to locate Mikoto’s childhood friend, but somehow Bell ends up being chased by horny prostitutes in order to… get raped. While on the run, he meets Haruhime who’s willing to help him and spends the night with her.
This episode was amusing, yet the fanservice was too much. I had to watch it in a small window, since my mom thought I was watching hentai. I don’t blame her…
I would have preferred if there was a darker, more mature atmosphere. This arc has an obscure theme, so I think that this quantity of humor is a bit off. The best part of this episode was the bittersweet, melancholic monologue of Haruhime. I didn’t expect that I would like this fox-girl so much, but her innocence leaves me no choice.
When it comes to the rest of the characters, I have to admit that the production did an excellent job in depicting a sexy woman’s body. The blur colors in the lust alley fitted perfectly and accompanied flawlessly the whole sensual feeling. The finale was smart, well-thought and managed to make the viewer champ for the continuation.
Phryne: Honestly, I sure as hell didn’t need Phryne in my life. She sums up my worst childhood nightmares, with her huge, frog-like mouth, her gigantic head, and her crazy glowing eyes. I wish to never see her again.
Goddess VS Goddess: This arc’s main battle will probably be between Freya and Ishar and the prize will be Bell. I’m curious to learn more about their past and their animosity.
Ishtar: This provocative Goddess knows how to… suck out any information she wants. Hue hue hue… Her astonishing looks make her totally irresistible, though I’m more of a Freya fan!
Hermes: I can’t believe that Hermes betrayed Bell. Even if he got drugged or got tortured by pleasure, I can’t get over the fact that because of him this malicious woman will be after Bell.
Best Wingman: Hermes gave Bell a viagra. End of story!
Ishtar: Ishtar is an ancient Mesopotamian goddess associated with love, beauty, sex, desire, fertility, war, justice, and political power. Her most common symbol was the eight-pointed star and she was associated with the planet Venus.
Amazons: If you dig up any Greek Mythology book and check out the chapter about Amazons, you’ll see that they’re actually quite different from the ones in DanMachi. They’re fearless warriors, so smart and cruel that Greeks claimed that they’re Ares daughters. It’s said that Amazons invented the calvary, changing the battlefield forever.
I can’t wait for Hestia’s reaction when she finds out that her precious Bell was accompanied by plenty of prostitutes the other night. She’ll go nuts! Except that I would like for the next episode to be more slow and focused with less distractions, in order to deepen the new characters’ backstories. This arc seems very promising and Freya is one of my favorite characters, so I can’t wait to see more of her. I’m pleased with what I saw, and I’m looking forward to a darker, more sophisticated setting!
